Philippe Coutinho has passed his medical for #lfc. Paperwork submitted, work permit would take a day or two more. Welcome home, son.

Coutinho deal done, apparently.

All good players 'belong' at LFC, innately. Until they turn out to be shit, that is, and then 'they were never good enough for our great club la.'

Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim Porto defender Rolando will be in London today to sign for QPR.

Building quite a team there Harry.

I really wish they stay up because I would like them to strengthen in the summer and see what they can do next season.

The premier league has lost one of its testicles today, goodbye Balotelli.

He will probably call in a bomb-threat on the plane taking him to Milan - and stand there grinning with a "why always me ?" T-shirt

They have 3 already. Signing a Cavani or Falcao may mean benching one of the others which will cause problems plus they have curbed their spending a bit for the fear of FFP.

Chris Samba has left #Anzhi training base in Spain without even saying bye to Guus Hiddink. Heading to England now. #QPR most probably.

Very good deal for QPR if they can get it done.

I heard Chicago Fire put a bid in for that dutch player but Twente rejected Ler Oyfer

Samba is on £100k a week at Anzhi. Surely QPR would have to come close to that.

This is annoying, by the time we play away at QPR they're going to have an entirely new squad!

We're 'poised' to 'swoop in' before the deadline day 'slams shut' was the last I heard.

Quite a few journos are saying that Stoke are going to bid for Butland tomorrow and the deal wouldn't go through until the summer, which suggests they expect to lose Begovic.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Doni, 33, says his long absence from football came about because he suffered a heart attack in the summer #lfc

I remember hearing he had a sick child. Obviously not.

Gazzetta dello Sport this morning reported that there was a lot more to Doni's exit from Liverpool than was originally known by those outside of the football club. We got the article translated and the following is from our piece on it earlier today:

'Gazzetta go as far as to say that on July 3rd he had a cardiac arrest whilst being examined by Liverpool doctors and there followed '30 seconds of terror'. Clinical examinations went on to show a heart arrhythmia, which they say was probably caused by a virus in childhood. It would not prevent him from taking part in sport but, like Gazzetta say, the recent incident with Fabrice Muamba and tragic death of Piermario Morosini have led to football being more cautious as a collective regarding these things.

Doni then returned to Brazil but later travelled to Italy and visited the Monzino hospital in Milan where Professor Zeppilli conducted a series of tests and after he explained the situation to Doni, the goalkeeper decided that he wanted to be closer to home and family. His condition is under control but is still present and will remain a concern for him.'

It brought concern to many supporters but also explained his apparent disappearance from the Merseyside club. Doni has now confirmed the claims and told Calciomercato that the situation was so serious he almost lost his life whilst being examined by Liverpool medics.

"I could return to play in 2014. I almost... I almost ended up on the other side. I had a heart attack for about 25 seconds.

"I've been to one of the best doctors in Europe who looked at me carefully. He's asked me to stop for a few months. Now I have to stay put until April, then I can return to the field, I want to play in the 2014 Paulista championship. "

Doni has moved back to Brazil partly to be near his family and says that the experience has made him reevaluate his life and priorities, as it would do with anyone. The goalkeeper is now associated with Brazilian side Botafogo SP but cannot play for them immediately.

We wish him all the best and hope he fulfills his wish of playing again.

Wasn't it Brad Jones who had a sick child? In fact, his son may have sadly even passed away.

I never got the whole Doni signing from the beginning anyway. The last I remembered, he was first-choice goalkeeper at Roma, playing Champions League football, and then I heard he had joined Liverpool for next to nothing to become their reserve goalkeeper all of a sudden. I was, and still am, truly mystifyed by it all.

Since the stability and consistency of Spalletti, Roma has gone through a fair few number of managers with little success, tbf, Ranieri had one real good year. However, fell out of favour with Ranieri, and Julio Sergio became first choice. Different managers perferred either keeper, but both left the club in 2011.

The owners also got into some financial trouble and weren't able to afford Doni's wages. Liverpool probably offered him more money then any club was willing to give him at that point in his career. It's claimed that he is making 85k a week right now, though I don't know if that is confirmed

Don't understand why Liverpool would pursue him on huge wages to be ae Roma to be a back-up.
