I know we're in a bit of a crisis in terms of defence at the moment, but is it really at the stage where we need to sign another defender? From our players, I'd say the only one that's injury prone to some extent is Rio, so when the rest of the defenders are back we'll have Vidic, (Rio), Jones, Smalling, Evans and this boy.
I know he's only 17, but I think we've sorted out our defence already for the next 5-10 years - Jones, Smalling and Evans.
He does seem like a bit of an animal, but we may as well just promote Wooton until the others are back.

I would say we were looking at him regardless of any defensive crisis. Also he seems to be 18 at the moment, and turns 19 on 18th September. Looks a prospect, I hope we get this lad.
He's a full time player for them as far as I know. Just checking from his wiki, he seems to have made 22 appearances for them in the league last season. Not bad at all for a 17.

Fergie may think Jones as more right back at the moment, or even cover for carrick in the middle when shielding the defence. Smalling and Evans are injury prone, Rio well he can't be relied on anymore as his problems increase and he's not getting any younger. if this lad is good enough then he will get his spot.

Rio isn't going to last forever. Evans and Smalling (both prone to an injury or two over the course of a season) are quality. We're not even sure where Jones is being earmarked to play and then we have Vidic.
Nobody has any idea that if (and a big if) we are in for this kid that he's being signed to go straight into first team affairs.
He's 17...he might not see regular first team football for another 2 years.
I'd say one that would be in and around the first team. He might be only 17 but he's already a 6' 2" stocky lad and still got loads of growing to come, he also has a fair amount of pace to him too. He has already made 26 first team appearances for St. Etienne so he's not exactly shy of first team football either.
He has the potential to be a star and it may of been mentioned but he could be the next Desailly - well worth the punt if you ask me.

How is it that we've been linked to every possible position (even a GK, one that doesn't exist, but still xD)? I seriously think they're overdoing it, even by their standards.
Zouma can play DM too as far as I know. Seems he would be a useful buy.
We was linked to another CB last year, Varane, who eventually joined Real Madrid over us. Our interest was valid, we had a bid in place, but Zidane worked his magic on him.
So it's no surprise we're back in the hunt for another young CB, to me it seems that Fergie doesn't see Jones' as a CB for the future but more of a CM/DM, especially with the lack of interest in any players capable of playing in CM.
Ah Cheers. I was mistaken, I was looking at his brother Lionel Zouma, who is turning 19. So that pic was of his 17 years old brother Kurt, who is 6'2"? Wow, a beast of a lad indeed.
I know about Varane, and even though we've currently got 4 CBs injured, dare I say we shouldn't expect that to be the case again this season once atleast Evans comes back.
I seriously don't know about Jones, he says he wants to play as a CB, his best games came as a RB, and his goals came when he played as a CM.
I have no idea what so ever what to make of this.
Still, I feel as if buying now just for the sake of 2 games or so wouldn't make much sense. I mean it's great if he's a good prospect and everything, I certainly wouldn't be against it, just don't see the need for us to sign a CB right now. We've got Vidič (who for me is still the best in the world), Rio, Smalling, Evans and Jones, while we've also got emergency cover within the first team and the reserves/u21s
He's 17, it could be a matter of get him now...or pay over the odds signing him from QPR in 2 or 3 years time.
