Lucas Moura to PSG fee €43million + €250,000 per week wages on a 4-year deal + €9 million agent fees = Total transfer cost of €100million.

Please let there be a reasonably good source for this, this has to the most ridiculous deal since, well... Carroll obviously.

I feel sorry for the player. Will be stuck in the obscurity of the French league with no hope but a pay-drop when he will leave.

I don't. It's his choice and I think he made a poor one. This is purely about greed.

It's not ridiculous when you can afford to waste billions. Liverpool spent big money on Carroll they couldn't afford to waste.

I don't believe he'll be on those wages. PSG would have no reason to offer > 100k per week alongside that massive transfer fee.

Doubt those very much.

Dunno about agent fees and wages but the fees is pretty well sourced. It's been mentioned by Brazilian newspapers. For that fees alone, I'm glad we're not in for him.

:wenger::wenger:

I know I said we are not able to compete these days.

But that's an abnormal market.

Plus why do all teams have to go for our targets?

Do players have absolutely no say as to where they want to play?

Or is money the only deciding factor in everybody's life nowadays?

alexis sanchez refused city's wedge because he only had eyes for barca.

kaka turned down city for madrid.

david villa turned down overtures from england to want to stay in spain.

@nickcoppack: Sir Alex on RvP: "We've made a bid, they've been trying to negotiate with other clubs. We have to persevere. Hopefully it comes our way."

It'll be per month, so €62.5k per week. He was on around €10-15k per week at Sao Paulo and we were rumoured to be offering €40k per week so I doubt they'd have gone overboard and give him €250k per week, particularly when he won't even be playing for them until January.

For those figures they can have him! Crazy money

We're not capable of brinkmanship when it comes to important transfers; these are days when money doesn't just talk, it screams. We'll have to pay Arsenal what they want, and see off other suitors. SAF cannot keep throwing his hands up in the air, saying 'the world's gone mad' every time we're asked to pay over the odds...because this madness constitutes the current climate, like it or not.

And after all we set the ball rolling on eye watering fee's.

Even though there is a feeling that we have dodged a bullet, the wider picture is not good. Now every young player of comparable talent will be demanding stupid wages first chance they get

Still sparked it off though, it was always going to happen after that. Clubs thinking if Ronaldo is worth 80 mill then ours is worth 'xxxxx mill'.

no we didn't. Madrid did. They paid the money. Spanish clubs have has clauses in their contracts for years asking for silly money. The sugar daddys are carrying the baton and they're the problem. I don't give a damn what other clubs think. Zidanes at 45million stood for ages. It's these inbred wankers that are shitting on the game paying these crazy wages etc. It's an ego trip.

But there are only 3 or 4 clubs prepared to pay those wages. So they will all end up at the same clubs and have no way of getting a game.

Ronaldo. 80 million.

So we started it by accepting Real Madrid's world record fee offer? Weeks after they paid somewhere between €50-60 million for Kaka? And before paying over €35 million each for Alonso and Benzema?

Seems to me Real Madrid started it; not much AC Milan and ourselves could do when offered those fees for players that had been tapped-up well before than.

We started/contributed to it by demanding so much mate. One way or another, it is true. We were involved.

so how much should we have asked for then? ...It's the way the game has gone. Any club in the world would ask for a crazy figure and going by his record at Madrid, they would say it's money well spent. However, he was proven. He was also highly marketable

Didn't City Bid £100m or something for Kaka before that too.

I might accept "contributing to it" (though we didn't have a great deal of choice as Ronaldo wanted out and we had a right to get the best deal on offer for him) - but I put the blame on the clubs spending like drunk sailors before anyone else.

AC Milan didn't start it by accepting the Kaka deal, and we certainly didn't by accepting the Ronaldo fee while Madrid lined-up the Benzema, etc deals and Barca responded with the ludicrous Zlatan deal.

Not that it matters, the market is where it is :(

Good point, I'd forgotten that.

In Ronaldos case we didn't do no wrong imo, he was worth every penny to them. Its when you get clubs paying 35 mill for Andy carroll that ruins everything.
