Baines or Alba? tough choice imo.

Baines is prem settled, decent crosser / set piece taker.

Alba is a spanish team national, better attacker but perhaps a little wobbly in defence?.

At 23 with the ability to also play on the wing I think Alba makes more sense if Evra is staying.

Personally I'd rather we signed Jessica Alba for team motivation when it comes to post match showering routines.

Would she still make it in the midst of cold, windy Britannia's bath houses?

Alba is fine defensively. The main issue is his height as he's very small and unlike Rafael or Evra, Ive never been impressed by his leap or him beating a player in the air that he really shouldnt. So thats the one thing to ponder imo if we are really looking to sign him. It makes a lot of sense for us to be wanting to make a bid for him with his contract situation and especially with the tension between Valencia and Barcelona at this point

Why is there new speculation over Alba? A Spanish player who used to play at Barca as a kid isn't likely to pick United over Barca. I can only assume it's to drive up the price?

Him and Kagawa can join and make one super person for added height just like in Kicking and Screaming. There, we're sorted.

Still largely better than Evra. But there's no hope, he'll join Barca.

He's Catalan, he's a Spanish international, he is comfortable in the Spanish league. I can't see any other outcome than a move to Barcelona, which is a shame as I think he'd be an ideal replacement for Evra.

Please read back through the thread. Valencia are pissed at Barcelona for stealing 2 of their under 12 players and their president has some stern words for them. They also sent a letter stating that the only price for Alba is 15 million euros, which Barcelona havent been willing to pay thus far.

At this point a big club coming in for the player and offering what Valencia wants would be very interesting. Either Barcelona would be forced to match it or Alba would have to say no to the move, stay at Valencia for one more season (maybe on the bench) and leave for free at the end of the season

People were getting way too carried away with this transfer thinking it was already done but Valencia are determined not to let Barcelona walk all over them so there may be a few twists and turns yet.

"We are angry with Barcelona because we don't understand why a club of their stature need to sign children aged ten and 11 from our youth ranks," he told Com Radio.

Llorente, though, dismissed any suggestion that the matter could affect Barcelona's attempts to sign Jordi Alba.

Barca have been in discussions over the Spain left-back for some time and are expected to complete the deal this summer.

"It will have no influence at all," he said. "The situation with Jordi Alba is a question of professional football and the other situation is a question of the youth team."

On the current progress of the deal, he added: "Barca are the ones with the interest. We've just attended the negotiations. You should ask them questions about what's happening."

If that's what they want, it'd be cheaper than Baines and better, but he wants to go to Barcelona from all accounts.

@Mufc_Info: Reliable Dutch newspaper Elf Voetbal report Liverpool have placed a €28m bid for James Rodriguez, utd said to have offered €25m.

He means they wont stop him going to Barcelona, but as with before the situation with the young players, its a question of money.

Barcelona have been given their price with a formal letter informing them its the final price. 15 million euros. If Barcelona pay it they'll get the player and this situation will have no influence

But theres no way now that Valencia are going to back down from the price.

"They will pay dearly for this"

Also yes, he definitely wants to go to Barcelona. But unless they stump up the money, he may have to wait a year for that

Barcelona are a complete and utter bunch of cnuts really. Not only do they kill the rest of the teams in that league by having their own TV deal but they're also unwilling to pay what is a perfectly reasonable transfer fee to one of those teams for a Spanish international footballer.

Oh and stealing a couple of children whilst they're at it. 'Mes que un club' indeed.

@GuillemBalague: In Spain it is being reported that Didier Drogba is arriving tomorrow to Barcelona to sign for FC Barcelona

Also, "Going on Talksport now to explain the situation. Some media say Drogba will sign for FCB, others he wont".

In one sentence, Guillem Blag insinuates he has no idea what is happening either but is going on the radio to tell everyone about it.

He's probably sat for 16 hours a day at his pc, pressing f5 on caughtoffside.com every 30 seconds

@PeterBolton3

David Gill just arrived at the #mufc Old Boys golf day. I asked who we were signing "no names but 2 hopefully" was reply!

Who the feck is Peter Bolton?

A long-time fan who has been to every game since the Newton Heath days or somewhere close to that. He's tweeting now about meeting Martin Buchan at the same golf event - seems unlikely he'd be making something like this up but I don't know the man personally.

thats pretty much how most of the newspaper and other ITK wankers operate.

So its pretty likely to be bullshit...as per usual!

True; I'm just saying that since he's not a hack or an unknown (well completely anyway) then he might be unlikely to be seeking attention by just making up something - but again I don't know the man, so basically I'm adding nothing to this conversion

Not that Gill would be likely to say anything at all about transfers or that that could necessarily be trusted if he did.

2 signings? He's probably referring to Powell and Kagawa. Get Mr Bolton to ask him about the warchest key

For what it's worth, knowing a bit about him, I am pretty sure anything he posts will be legitimate, re: who he meets and speaks to today. Doubt he'll learn anything too ground-breaking though.

Not much of insightful information from Mr Bolton there.

Even I know that are "hopefully" going to sign 2 more players.

A bit of common sense and hopefully being a key word here.

@UtdWeekly: Anderson could join Sporting or Benfica according to L'Equipe #mufc

He could also fly to the moon, run around the world, swim the channel or get a sex change.

Using the word 'could' means that it is a pointless thing to say!

Might struggle with that to be fair.
