Turns out we're a bit crap, anyone?

Didn't we have a similar thread after our last resurgence and we all know how it ended!!!!

Team that should be in the relegation spots top, two bottlers from North London next and behind them one who's been shedding points for months.

It's ours to lose, really, at this point.

Aye and behind them is a team that just won 2 league games in a row for the first time since September if I'm not mistaken! Top 4 I think we will get though.

Edit: *November. But still!

We'd have to win every game between now and the end and even then Leicester would need to drop 7 so no it won't happen, not with our current team, we just about got through this match.

We don't have that consistently effective player in the final third to consistently score goals or create.

And then the fact that from the first leg against Midgetylland to the final game against City before the international break we will have played 10 matches in 32 days, the players already look fatigued, I don't think they can keep winning.

The race for top four is on though, that with a trophy in either the FA Cup or Europa League would make for a successful season when combined with the youth players that have shown themselves worthy of our squad next season.

Add more players either like Martial, Memphis and Shaw or a world class player or two and we are in an excellent position.
I guarentee Leicester will drop 7 or more points between now and end of season

We've turned a corner, Shammy. For reals, this time. Not like all the other times we turned corners only to find ourselves even more lost...

Well you never know, Rashford has come in at a good time and might give the other players a boost, then we start getting injured players back at the right time and a crazy accident happens that is ultimately harmless to human life but leaves all the teams above us stranded on a magical island for 3 months.

That's the spirit! :)

I'll just say stranger things have happened in football, and as a football fan I live in hope.

You all seem really nervous that we might actually do it and then all of your bitching a whining all year will have been for nothing.
If we win it this year, this would be the sweetest title we've ever won. Ever. Any title. And I will make a dedicated thread just to apologize to you.

I would love it, absolutely love it (lol) if United won the title. The reaction om this forum and all the other teams forums would be of epic proportions. Could you imagine RAWK or Blue Moon?

If we had ground out a couple more home wins if this kind, we'd have been in it

We can start by looking at this weekends fixtures:

Spurs V Arsenal - one side will definitely drop points.

Man City V Villa - sadly, 3 points to City.

Watford V Leicester - potential banana skin for the Foxes.

West Brom V United - a potential banana skin for us too, but hopefully a win (i have to believe that we will win our games even if most of you have given up, justified or not)

best case (realistic) scenario:

1 Leicester 57.
2 Spurs 55.
3 Arsenal 52
4 City 50.
5 United 50.

We've just won our first consecutive games since fecking November and people are talking about the title?

Dearie me.

At first I thought to myself OP is in lala land but knowing our luck OP may be on something here. LVG will probably go on this winning streak win the EPL get an extension on his contract and its back to garbage 16/17.

Did you just manage to make the possibility of us winning the title into a negative?

Having been at the game tonight and having watched United all season all I can say is we are a mess. But....

....we're a pretty game mess. We do keep trying. But not enough to scrape the wins necessary to win the league.

The only thing I will say is, the rest of the league is dreadful. If, and its a big if, United go to City and Spurs and win those two games, May 1st at home is going to be great fun!

Well it's been so doom and gloom all season so i thought that I would attempt to lighten the mood.

The way i see it, we are 10 points behind Leicester having gained 2 points on them with these midweek fixtures, with Spurs, Arsenal and City losing tonight we pulled back 3 points on all of these teams having beaten Arsenal on sunday.

This weekend is the north London derby meaning that at least one of Spurs or Arsenal will drop points giving us another chance to close the gap. on top of this we have players returning from injury, have won 4 on the spin in all competitions and still have to play City, Spurs and Leicester.

10 Points doesn't seem that bad anymore.
Not with this manager, it's just too many of false dawns this season to think we can actually pull off Sir Alex Ferguson and storm the league all of a sudden with so many injuries and not being close to fully balanced team level.

LvG is forced to experiment with extremely young squad and it's really hard to demand that much from them... for now.

Shoulda..woulda..coulda. If we won some of the matches that we had no business losing (Norwich at home, Sunderland away etc), we would be right there. Real pity.

Not only that, we literally did everything not to keep a win at Stamford Bridge. You simply cannot compete for title if you're doing such spastic things on the pitch.

It's over for this season... it was over a long time ago actually.

strange season.

it can happen.

4th Place Finisher (or 5th for that matter) is a title, so I'd say we're deep in a title challenge here.

I saw a team play poorly, soak up the pressure and come away with a 1-0 win.

Now....what is it they say about champions and playing poorly?

True. True.
But what about the 10 point gap to LCFC? Who just happen to be a better team than us?
Unless we can cast a spell which makes their entire team vanish, it'll be near impossible.
And lets not get carried away. We have won 2 EPL games in a row. That's right 2!!! This does not constitute league winning form.

Let me summarise:
If we get 4th - an impressive achievement.
3rd - progress - LVG has done an acceptable job.
2nd - LVG should be allowed to continue next season, even though one of the best managers in the World is set to take over and he was/is foolish enough to play Rooney, which would've seen him sacked, had Rooney not got injured.
1st - LVG must be classified as a genius and should be persuaded to stay for another 10 years!

Leicester will choke. They have been playing well with lot of positive spirit but can they handle it mentally? Too close games recently and they may start to doubt themselves.

Spurs can also choke, and we know about Arsenal. City can turn it on.

As for me, I still believe. Feck it is March, 30 more points to play for.
