Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

You have to wonder how damaging the intel evidence was that the DOJ showed to Gowdy. He's retiring, is talking a lot of sense in recent days and was the only Republican to see the underlying intelligence.

Yup and he's realised what is coming and making sure he distances himself from it all. He's also realised that Trumps bs over the memo is exactly that. BS. And he's doing his best to make sure (as subtly as he can) that the Republicans and voters understand how wrong (And maybe how guilty) Trump is about all of this.

Anyone read Collusion by Luke Harding? Trump's Russian connection goes waaaay back than the recent elections. If I were him, I'd just resign soon instead of having Muller dig up all the corpses.

Therein lies the problem. He is so entangled with Russians that even if he was completely innocent of collusion or obstruction, Mueller's probe could continue to unravel well over a decade of Trump organization activities and bring them into the public domain.

But is that something he could get impeached for? I don't think it will hugely impact his supporters view of him(not that I give a flying feck what they think)
 
The 4 part series on Trump recently shown on Channel 4 here in the UK exposes most of his dodgy dealings throughout his life. You can bet if it's been in a documentary then Mueller will be aware of it too, just depends how relevant he seems it all to be. Feck, it's no secret he had huge mafia ties when building Trump tower as the concrete was all purchase from the mob.

This is why I've said it's such a shock he even made it as far as becoming a candidate let alone actually getting elected ffs.

It would have to be something related to committing a serious crime. If for example Trump was directly implicated with knowingly participating in money laundering involving the Trump corporation, Deutsche Bank, and various Russian oligarchs, and Trump himself was involved then that could be very bad. At a minimum it would make him look crooked as feck in the lead up to the next elections.

The book clearly mentions him being involved in dodge deals with mobsters and Deutsche Bank helping him launder that money. I guess, that is a good sign.

That's the narrative he wanted to push when he ordered Nunes to put fabricate a memo for him. Unfortunately for him, it's pretty much just him and Hannity that are actually trying to push it.

Possibly but what % of his voter base take what he and hanity say as the truth and dismiss the rest as fake news?.

It doesn't really matter. The point of the memo was to change public opinion not preach to the choir. They could have sacked Rosenstein and Mueller a year ago and the % of his voter base you refer to would have cheered him on. This was intended to cause outrage outside of that voter base so they had justification. That hasn't happened. There's enough voices still from the right side of the spectrum saying it's a nothing memo and he shouldn't impede Mueller let alone in the centre or left.

I’m cheating on the caf with another forum (an American forum) and the Trumpsters on there are taking the memo as the word of god. There’s already a thread with a poll asking if Obama and Hillary should go to jail for using the FBI to do their illegal bidding. :rolleyes: (25-2 in favor of yes)
Assange is, and I quote, "100% accurate and honest”. When it’s pointed out that he’s actually Putin’s puppet and he was 100% wrong about the Russia investigation no later than yesterday it just falls on deaf ears.
Point out that the memo isn’t backed up by any evidence and you’re accused of being a partisan hack.. etcetc.

It also doesn’t matter how many times you pick apart the memo as the actual facts doesn’t seem to matter. All that matters is the headline stuff and that the dossier is fake. Show an article that proves that the memo is BS and you get stuff like “stopped reading at parts of the dossier have been verified”..

So I think this memo has done exactly what they wanted it to do, strengthen Trump’s base in their belief that the Mueller investigation being a witch hunt. It was never about Carter Page.

There are basically no neautral people in the political sub forum and everyone knows that they will most likely never convince the other side that they’re wrong about Trump no matter what.

Absolutely, and I'd guess a lot more. I'm biased, but I think there are definitely far more extremists on the right than the left. If it goes to a prosecution I'm expecting to see small numbers of murders/violent attacks in response. Some of these feckers are WAY down the rabbit hole at this point.

The ones on the left would just see it as more corruption like the Bush election theft and the like. They'll be angry but won't do much. Their counterparts on the right though are deep in Alex Jones territory, and would take it as the establishment/deep state holding a coup. Those cnuts also tend to be the heavy gun owner/militia types too.

If it comes down to a fight im certainly putting my money on the ar15 toting political wing of the nra... Though I'd like to think even though there are big divisions you can avoid an actual civil war.

Either way i expect mass demonstrations and trouble

Civil war is just the drunken ramblings of the far right idiots. There's always a couple though who will come out and kill people, like that dumb cnut who ran into the protestor in Charlottesville.
