Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

I said the other day it'll be Manafort. Most of the charges (or even all?) are from pre-2016. Collusion?

(I've been out all morning and still out now so haven't seen the reports in full. Will post later when I get an opportunity.)

One person on the campaign team charged with acting as an agent of a foreign country is unlucky.

Two in the same day? I'd take a bet the donald is with his lawyers right now.

I thought it'd be Joe the plumber.

American legal eagles!

So is conspiracy against the United States actually the American equivalent of Treason? or is this just a specific wording that sounds bigger than it is - namely a catch-all for any conspiracy against american law?

It can mean any number of things that were done. In Manafort's case its likely related to financial crimes with foreign entities.

They mention acting as an agent to a foreign power. He was doing that while with trump (in fact both were). I suspect that the financial stuff is easily proven and there to get him into questioning, but it will be the consequences of that one, guaranteed federal prison, that will have him turn.

George Papadopolus now as pleaded guilty. Another campaign adviser to Trump

The house of cards is definitely starting to topple.

Mueller is sticking up 2 fingers at those who have been moaning the investigation is going too slowly.

This is proceeding at lightning pace and we only know a faction of the stuff going on in the investigation.

I wonder why it was sealed over the weekend?

The Papadopolous thing sounds like Mueller attempt to sandwich Manafort into cooperating. If he doesn't, Papadopolous will merely tell the feds what Manafort did and he will then be in even worse legal trouble.

Papadopoulos agreed to cooperate with the FBI in July.

Rookie mistake: talking to law enforcement. Dunno how incredibly daft some of these people are to incriminate themselves at a voluntary meetings with the FBI.

It even said they told him lying would be an offense and the interview was completely voluntary..

Mueller's obviously already flipped this Papadopoulos character and I've read suggestions that the fact that Flynn hasn't been indicted yet (that we know of) probably means he too has flipped.
