Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

So what Nunes is stating is basically this: You can go to the FISA court with some 3rd party - obtained material and get an warrant. What a dumb feckwit.

Steele is described as being “desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president”.
The language, which ironically exemplifies desperation, is reminiscent of a child falsely swearing that something is 'really, really true!'

Haha I swear Fox had its headlines ready to go: "Bombshell doc says blabbing British spy's dossier paid for by Clinton, key to Trump snooping warrant" and yes that's actually what it says right now.

Meanwhile, in the Oval Bunker...

If Trump does try to push Mueller out surely he's risking everything the Special Council has on him leaking immediately to the press?

So I assume we now get a clamour to sack rosenstein who also happens to be Meullers boss right?

Just assuming that happens who gets to pick the new rothenstein?
Guess.

Could this have gone any worse for Nunes and Trump?

I've just looked on foxnews.com and they're making a very half assed attempt at the narrative it was intended for. They won't even be discussing this one in a few days as the rest of the media continues to discuss Nunes' actions.

Is the point in the memo that the dossier was the "sole source" for the FISA warrant or that the FISA warrant would not have been granted without the dossier? I haven't read the whole thing.

The point is to somehow incriminate the FBI and various people like Steele, Rosenstein and others.

Has Trump just started an unclassified memo leak war?

Could be risky.

These weren't leaked. They were released through official channels, albeit with an extremely one sided, cherry picked summary of the Trump view.

Yeah but it's a cherrypicked release which the Republican majority on the committee pushed through. Response is obvious if the Democrats can't get theirs out officially.

I know both sides (especially the republicans because this is their memo) will try to twist and interpret their way, that's why I'm trying to extract the main factual points here.

Was it actually mentioned in the memo, in a clear way, that the dossier was the sole source for the FISA warrant application? Because I think what's actually mentioned in black and white here is that a high ranking official (of the justice department?) testifying in a secret session that the justice department would not have granted the FISA warrant [EDIT: or would not have been sought] without the dossier. That's different from being the 'sole source', but still clearly indicates that the decision of the justice department (not the application or the FBI investigation) was actually dependent on the dossier.

Though trump had to declassify it for it to be released right

If he does not declassify the dems one they are leaking classified information... not sure that plays well for them of ends well for whoever they pin the leak on

Depend on what the leaked memo says. If it's explosive enough the whole 'who broke protocol and released it?' will be an afterthought.

Surely if you make a legal statement about an individual/individuals they have the right to respond?

The GOP will dine off this for years.

#MemoDay is even trending in the UK
