Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

I can't see Sanders lasting. At some point there will be a line crossed where she will just say feck it. I have mixed feelings on individuals in his inner circle staying put (they can actually make things better) but for the likes of Spicer, Sanders etc they can go feck themselves. They constantly defend the indefensible.

Given how loved up her dad is with Trump I'd say she's going down with the ship.

Anyway, WRT Deutsche Bank, this is fecking huge. Is he gonna fire Mueller now because it's his finances?

That's where all the secrets are buried for sure, I suspect things will rapidly pick up the pace now.

It's gonna be a glorious day when the Trump Organisation falls.

What are the odds he eventually gets impeached or resigns?

John Roberts is claiming that Mueller has NOT issued a subpoena to Deutsche Bank.

If this is true then we've got shenanigans going on here.

Media better have done their vetting on this Deutsche Bank story.

Going to be a scandal if the likes of Reuters and Bloomberg have been lied to by their sources.

Suddenly it would be fake news indeed, and the orange gimp would be unbearable.

Maybe Deutsche bank is co-operating in different ways. if there is reasonable suspicion to suggest the bank has been used for illegal activity, is a subpoena necessary? Wouldn't the bank just co-operate?

The claim today was that Mueller issued a subpoena to Deutsche bank. If that is untrue then this big story is fake.

And that’s exactly the narrative Fox are hoping to push. It’s only them reporting it so excuse me if I’m sceptical :p

Looks like DB didn't mind being 'forced' to hand over the docs .

FT article said:
A person with direct knowledge of the German bank’s actions told the Financial Times the production of Trump-related documents had begun several weeks ago. “Deutsche could not hand over client information without a subpoena,” said a second person with direct knowledge of the subpoena. “It’s helpful to be ordered to do so.”

Yep, more likely this subpoena story is true as multiple outlets are confirming it and they'll all have their different sources.

It’s funny because their intention is to expose the other networks as fake news but they’re only exposing themselves. I guess in reality a lot of their viewers will only ever hear their narrative and won’t see that.

They can fool themselves but if gets sent to prison, it wouldn't matter.

Blumenthal on CNN just now suggesting the Senate needs to expedite legislation that would protect Mueller from getting fired by Trump - as it relates to what Mueller is looking into with Deutsche Bank. Very interesting.

What's the odds that Democrats will hold both houses before the next election? I think that impeachment is reliant on Dems holding both houses.

It'll be highly unlikely they take back the senate.

Dems have got a challenge on their hands themselves next year in West Virginia, North Dakota, Indiana and a few other states where Trump won convincingly.

Pretty sure if he fires Mueller then Mueller will just get rehired as a new special counsel and carry on.

At least, I hope so in any case.

The political pressure from doing such a thing would be huge but you can bet the GOP would fall in behind Trump and cite the cost and cite that he's gone past the mandate of looking for collusion even though they know full well he'll find a tonne of stuff in Trump's financial records.

I certainly don't trust the GOP to do the right thing but, as I have said a few times before: Remember how Comey documented everything and left a paper trail as he had a feeling he'd be sacked?

I think Mueller will have been doing the same. If he's sacked, I think he'll have a number of sealed indictments waiting to be unsealed and a huge stack of evidence and reports all prepared for submission.

So it'll be a case of:

  1. Mueller fired.
  2. GOP deliberate over rehiring him under congressional jurisdiction.
  3. GOP admit that they're likely to put the whole thing to bed and give Trump their backing.
  4. Judges and FBI agents Mueller has trusted then lean on GOP warning them that even though the investigation isn't finished there is a whole stack load of criminal charges about to be announced.
  5. GOP then have to decide whether to try to contain the whole thing and see what charges stick, or try to wash their hands clean of it and allow Mueller to finish his job.
I don't believe for a second that firing Mueller will free everyone of any chance of charges. The investigation might finish but somebody will press charges with the findings.
