Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Putin speaks English, if he wanted to say something in private , he would have , and probably has already. Summoning the interpreters looks like an unnecessary distraction.

His English is very limited so chances are if they did have an exchange in English it was very basic and not the sort of in depth chat they would've had through interpreters.

I don't buy for a second his English is limited. He used to be a KGB agent. I think he just likes the signal it sends that "he doesn't speak English".
Trump's English would be more of an issue I bet.

What is the evidence for Putin’s English skills? Plenty on Twitter saying he’s fluent.

It was a hard requirement for all intelligence personnel working abroad.

Putin's language was German. He likely also spoke English at the time, but its a massive stretch to presume he remains fluent three decades later during which he has rarely spoken English.

He's done an odd interview in English here and there. Matthew Chance with CNN a couple of years ago and he sang Blueberry Hill by Fats Domino (check YouTube). That doesn't however mean he can chop it up on the finer nuances of international politics in English.

Trump and Putin actually spoke alone for some time in Hamburg, with no interpreters. Another suspicious timeline:

(Edit): sorry, reading through it again it seems Putin’s interpreter was present, but not Trump’s.

Probably means he can communicate with Trump just fine though.

How do you know he has rarely spoken English?

I think he can understand English fairly well, even if speaking is more difficult (as it is for most people). I imagine Putin was well-prepped and, in any case, Trump would have been doing most of the talking with a few prompts here and there to steer the conversation to topics of interest.

I know most of the lyrics to La Tribu de Dana, but I don't speak a word of French.

I agree that he was stationed mainly in Germany however the agents one can expect to recruit in East/West Germany during the Cold War were not necessarily German speakers . A lot of American, British, French, etc personnel.

Breaking: President Trump's team rebuffed Special Counsel Robert Mueller's request in recent weeks for an in person session with Trump to ask follow up questions

It’s about time.

I think there’s a very good chance that McConnell is already in Mueller’s cross hairs considering that he’s colluding with Trump on all his Russian tasks

McConell getting removed from the politics would be the greatest thing to happen to US. Unlike Trump, he is actually quite good at his job (which for most part means stopping Democrats doing anything).

BREAKING: Senate GOP defeats Dem measure to enforce sanctions against companies controlled by Russian oligarch OLEG DERIPASKA. Dems needed 60 votes, only got 57, even after GOP defections. Sanctions now all but certain to be lifted this week pursuant to TRUMP administration deal.

Yeah, the congress appears to be working and getting paid.

It’s more down to the logistics of it all isn’t it? Security and other staff required.

Rudy the gift that keeps on giving

Another example of this:

Lawyer for the court of public opinion.

His main tactic has been to reveal the worst so it comes from them before it gets released in court documents. That way they hope people say “ah well it can’t be that bad, Rudy already told us about that and said it’s normal”.

It's like a mafia organisation, in which the boss is protected from legal harm by expendable cut-outs.
