Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

The Conway situation is so bizarre. I can’t help but think that Kelly Anne has got something on Trump and has told him that she wants stay working at the White House.

I don’t believe for a second that Trump’s paranoia would let him risk actually trusting her loyalty enough to remain in his close circle.

Quite a few people seem to not be able to to accept today's news. One of the comments I've seen is "no way there's a paper trail, Trump can't be that stupid, therefore this is just fake news".

His supporters are in awe of his "financial success", they look up to rich people. These people can't accept that a person who is thick as shit can be more successful than them.

Could this be a move to bait the Dems and Mueller to go in for it now before they uncover even more sinister doings... 4d chess and all that?

Narcissistic egos love a paper trail as it functions as proof of their greatness.

He's safe as long as McConnell lets him be, if he gets impeached, he's pissed off enough people on both sides that they'll let Mueller run his course and bust his ass on a weekly basis. Imagine Clinton x Benghazi with 10 times severity from both sides.

So, just thinking, it turns out that Barr is a long time friend of Mueller. As in, wives are friends and they barbecue in the summer. Trump is said to have been unaware of this until his hearing started.

Barr penned a critique of the Mueller investigation which caught Trump’s eye and earned him the nomination.

Is it just wishful thinking that Barr may be a hell of a play by Mueller to get an ally overseeing his work? Once Barr is in, it’s a hell of a task for Trump to oust him and get someone else in.

Depends...are they good buddies (real mates) or good fair-weather friends.

Is this the first time the Special Counsel has commented on anything?

That could merely be a carefully-worded denial of any leaking.

These kind of stories just illustrate the need for the Dems to take it slow with the impeachment talk. After this story was published, people were jumping for joy and instantly calling for impeachment proceedings to start.

Smart thing to do is to be patient, wait for the Mueller report and let all the facts/evidence come out and take it from there.

Damn. Amazing turn of events

I don't think much has changed. Even if the Buzzfeed piece was correct, everyone would've still had to wait for the full Mueller report to come out to corroborate it. Now that Mueller is pushing back, we still have to wait for his report to come out to figure out what actually happened.

The facts have not changed.

The SC office has merely denied leaking anything.

I have a feeling this is Mueller's Office looking to rein in the Democrats in the House who have started discussing impeachment already. I think they know that on the information that is currently in the public domain, while the House might vote to impeach Trump, the Senate will veto it and prop him up. Conservative media and Republican Congressmen are still pushing the narrative that "after nearly 2 years of investigations, we've still seen no evidence of wrong doing by the President". Mental gymnastics but technically correct in that other than the Individual 1 stuff (easily inferred to be Trump), he's yet to be named in an indictment.

I think Mueller wants to slow down the impeachment talks until his report is released and all of Trump's crimes and supporting evidence laid bare. If McConnell still blocks it in the Senate... god help him.
