So, if these two were at the DC court together who was their target likely to be?
Dreeben seems to make perfect sense if Trump is the subject of the subpoena. Nobody is more qualified to argue before the SCOTUS; the legality of a sitting POTUS being indicted.
I think that one argument that is likely to be used (and it’s one that will destroy Trump’s tiny mind), is that a President can absolutely be indicted for crimes he committed during their election bid as the crimes invalidate the Presidency. Otherwise, it just means that any candidate can commit as many crimes as they want during the election, they just have to make sure they win it for immunity.
But what would Z Ahmed be doing there instead of one of the others (Rhee, Quarles, Zelinsky and Goldstein) who worked on Trump?

Yeah, for what it's worth... that's very much a tactic of his defence. It helps with the whole "remorse" act and is intended to provoke exactly the sort of empathy you have just shown in the hope that the public accept him back into society when all is said and done and judges/parole officers are more lenient on him.

I’m now wondering if it was Pence. He was completely out of the discussion on the wall the other day.
