Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Mike Pompeo suggests Rosenstein in danger after report he discussed taping Trump
Guardian said:
In excerpts of an interview with Fox News Sunday, Pompeo said: “If you can’t be on the team, if you’re not supporting this mission, then maybe you just ought to find something else to do.”

Asked by the host Chris Wallace if Rosenstein’s reported behaviour would constitute “being on the team”, Pompeo said: “Not remotely.”

Also on Friday night, the Fox News hosts Laura Ingraham, Jeanine Pirro and Gregg Jarrett advocated firing Rosenstein. However Sean Hannity, who has perhaps even more influence with the president than Ingraham or Pirro, said Trump should not do that.

In what he called “a message for the president”, Hannity said: “Under zero circumstances should the president fire anybody … I have multiple sources confirming this ... it is all a set-up.”
What an absolutely f*cking ridiculous situation: Fox News runs America, apparently.

This crap can't go on for the next 2 (or + 4 more) years.

What do you think the medium to long-term impacts will be on the country and the rest of the world towards the US?

I think it's done irreparable damage to the office of the Presidency and to the division in US politics for another few generations.

The rest of the world will completely distrust the US for years to come and the next time someone like Trump comes along (there will be a next time) I suspect the influence of the US will completely disappear.

Is Lindsey Graham ever going to shut the hell up? Either the man truly is playing 4d chess to undermine Trump or he is as devious and as partisan as he always seemed to be. A moderate voice only by catering to the audience in front of him.

The replacement will be from someone already working within the DOJ. Don't think this means anything unless Sessions is gone as well.

I don't think Trump (or any President) could keep an AG or acting AG on after the NY story.
His post was untenable. Incidentally I don't think this disturbs Mueller's work too much.

Rachel Brand seems to have predicted this sort of drama and rightfully fecked off before it had a chance to unfold.

CNN reporting Roseinstein had discussed the possibility of resigning in a phone call to Kelly, but he had not actually tendered his resignation.

He would have to resign and have the terms of his resignation accepted, which the WH apparently have not.

If he refuses to resign because the WH wouldn't agree with the terms, then i see no choice but the WH having to fire him.

Trump wants to fire him...because apha male BS.

If he refuses to resign because the WH wouldn't agree with the terms, then i see no choice but the WH having to fire him.

Unless of course he gives Trump a suitable answer that he didn't do what the Times piece claims and Trump chickens out due to the growing media shitstorm that's brewing. In either case, Rosenstein offering the resignation is the right thing for him to do as it places the onus on Trump to proactively fire him.

Scary. Just wish Mueller would do what's right...maybe he is and we just don't know..

Are there procedural differences for hiring a new assistant AG in a firing vs resignation scenario?

Wonder if Trump and co will use this to deflect from the Kavanaugh news today.

How convenient that this is happening at a time that the Kavanaugh scandal is growing.
