Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

RIP Attorney-client privilege, thoughts and prayers go out

That's the narrative yeah. Apparently that's not actually what this is about though. Cohen has been raided and is being investigated for crimes he has committed while working for Trump.

Employing a lawyer to do all your dirty work doesn't mean you are employing somebody who cannot be investigated. That isn't what "Attorney-Client Privilege" means.

I think he shot himself in the foot by even mentioning the privilege.

I'm actually hoping it all blows over as if he does get impeached I can see him calling for his supporters to defend their president from the deep state and take to the street with their (many many) guns... honestly I dread to think how bad it could go...
I live in the thick of it and I’m not worried.

C'mon... as far as trump and his supporters a little fact like that isnt going to get in the way of it being a crooked hillary lead witch hunt as she tries to steel the presidency

Much better to let him flap about for another 2 and a half years and hope the voters have come to their senses by then

I doubt we would see anything else than a few minor altercations. A lot of those Trump supporting crazies are keyboard warriors.

What would it take for a journalist to quite simply ask Trump - what *is* attorney-client privilege?

When the journo asked Trump 'Why don't you just fire Mueller', you can hear somebody yell out 'yeah, fire the guy'. I wonder who that was.

It was the same guy who asked the "Why don't you just fire Mueller" question a moment earlier, simply following up after he noticed Trump repeated his question. Obviously attempting to goad Trump into a provocative answer.

He’s gonna blow!

He is finally figuring out that he may be checkmated.

Fire Mueller = Get impeached and/or have Congress reappoint Mueller as the indepdendent council under a new statute
Don't Fire = Allow Mueller to detonate his Presidency with his findings

Part of me wants him to fire Mueller just so ii can watch the shitstorm.

I'm just waiting for Trump to push someone in front of the DC subway train like in House of Cards. We ll have come full circle then. Though arguably reality these days is far crazier than what happened on that show.

I think Trump is going to go for a two pronged attack. He’s going to sack Mueller and then immediately put forward a motion to start bombing Syria. (Or vice versa)

Republicans in the senate and congress at that point will happily say “We will address the Mueller situation in due time but we have bigger things to focus on right now”.

Oh man...your boy Nunes is up to no good again.

Oh god what’s he done now? He’s text book tv series villain, he’s made to look an idiot and then goes back to his evil lair to plot his next wicked plan.

Backroom plotting with the freedom caucus to go after Rosenstein and Wray....

The conclusion of this whole thing really won't be satisfying unless Nunes gets done as well.

How much power do they have over Rosenstein? I thought the 3 branches of government had to remain equal and independent?

Did anyone else see Preet Bharara go through the steps that the US Attorney would have to take to get the warrant to raid an attorney’s office?

And how he pointed out that the US Attorney of the Southern District of NY was his old position and that if it’s that office that asked for the raid that it is currently manned by a Trump appointee?

Correct. Geoffrey Berman was Trump's pick and is doing the job on an interim basis.

Guess what, he recused himself from this case..:lol::lol::lol:

Surely Cohen has been sanitizing his records over the last year. He can't be that stupid.

That’s an interesting question... Still would leave open various options I’d say. Cohen simply making a mistake/forgetting/having been unable to cover everything. Or perhaps there’s evidence indicating he sanitized stuff. Or, surely he’s had employees working for him/people helping him, despite the fact that Trump is his only client. They might’ve brought something up.

If he made the documents using Google Docs, it automatically saves everything you do and caches old edits.
