See everbody, that's the target group we're talking about. If you try to win people with such reasoning over with logical arguments about complex situations, you're automatically in for a disappointment. It simply won't work.
If liberals around the world want to win those voters back, they should take a very close look at how populists wrap up their 'arguments'. If you have the facts and logic on your side, it is very tempting to bring those up to convince the opposite that you're objectively right but that's simply not how many people work. Republicans approach campaigning like advertisement while Democrats approach it as if they were in a debating club. But if the people who voted for Trump could ve convinced with arguments, they'd never have voted for him to begin with. You need to pick your instruments according to the target group and in such cases, you're better off repeating easy to grasp catch phrases and strawman arguments time and again and leave facts and arguments aside.
