Yeah this was my reasoning. I don't think it's "100% confirmed" that Griezmann would stay if there was no lift in the ban, but that was the impression i got from some of the earlier reporting, even before the french interview.
I think a few transfers rely on the ban being lifted and griezmann then moving.
He's likes the club and the manager so unless they can get a good deal out of his transfer he's not going to leave. A good deal is one where they can replace him and then some, unless that ban is lifted that isn't going to happen.

When your agent complains that his player isn't being respected in the last year of his contract and yet his contract is extended in light of only rumours linking him to Barcelona (Primarily due to Valverde) & a host of other unsubstantiated links then I'd say it works quite well - and not the first time players/agents do this

So why have Mundo Deportivo, Sport and now the Madrid media all run the story of Valverde's interest? Its not the English press that started these rumors you know?

Where did I point out that it was English media starting anything? And Sport as a credible source? These rumours are a combination of a player entering the last year of his contract, a former coach being linked to his new job and an agent doing his job for his client.
I trust credible Barcelona sources and this rumour of Herrera was shot down from when it started by Romero, Torres et al
Pep has a relatively poor transfer record. He bungles it a lot in the transfer business. But it looks like he might be turning a corner. Jesus and Sane were good buys. Now he's got Silva too.

What does MD or Sport reporting about a Spanish player have to do with it being a credible link? There are stories on hundreds of players each season, few are credible

As we both know MD tends to have a decent line on what Barca is planning. That is a lengthy column on Herrera, not the kind of thing MD does for players in foreign leagues every day, and it says Barca are interested.
