Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

As we both know MD tends to have a decent line on what Barca is planning. That is a lengthy column on Herrera, not the kind of thing MD does for players in foreign leagues every day, and it says Barca are interested.

MD more reliable for some things than Sport, true. But MD is also a mouthpiece for the board, linking Herrera only fits into the narrative of Valverde being considered - none of the local reporters for the club bit on the link. Not the least of which is that Herrera is hardly an unknown player in Spain but does not fit what Barcelona needs, even as a cheaper alternative to a Verratti

Are you now trying to make out that MD is a bad source for Barcelona news? Really?

Both, are poor - MD just has a closer link to the board

Choose to believe what you want. Its coming across very much like a lad who sees a girl he likes with someone else and then pretends he never liked her anyway.

The girl that was ignored for two seasons Under LVG? Meanwhile his best matches as a player, for me, were while he was still at Bilbao and yet he was never credibily linked to Barcelona then either, making the current link lazy if not altogether absurd

Whether Barcelona are genuinely interested or not I don't know, but Herrera is one player I wouldn't be worried about in that regard. I get the feeling he's perfectly happy at United and has no desire to ever leave. Now hopefully we'll extend his contract shortly.

Haven't been able to find it, it was a short quip from his agent from the winter when speculation was mounting the player was unhappy going into the final year of his contract and no negotiations had begun

I did the search for you.

Manchester United star Ander Herrera is 'extremely unhappy' at the club, according to his agent. 'Herrera isn't receiving the respect that he deserves', his agent said. 'He could play for any of the top clubs in Europe.' The statements come on the back of reports that VfL Wolfsburg were willing to purchase the Manchester United midfielder for €29 million. During a press conference this morning, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho refused to comment on Herrera's future at the club.

This site says Ander Herrera is unhappy at ManUtd.

The same site, on the same date, used the same article without changing any word except from Ander to Hector and ManUtdto Porto.

FC Porto star Hector Herrera is 'extremely unhappy' at the club, according to his agent. 'Herrera isn't receiving the respect that he deserves', his agent said. 'He could play for any of the top clubs in Europe.' The statements come on the back of reports that Swansea were willing to purchase the Mexican midfielder for €23 million. During a press conference this morning, FC Porto boss Rui Barros refused to comment on Herrera's future at the club. -

Very reliable source.

Where did I point out that it was English media starting anything? And Sport as a credible source? These rumours are a combination of a player entering the last year of his contract, a former coach being linked to his new job and an agent doing his job for his client.

I trust credible Barcelona sources and this rumour of Herrera was shot down from when it started by Romero, Torres et al
 You have the best tagline

Did you read the MD article? Its from months ago. Long before Valverde was confirmed.

Like I said, choose to believe what you want to believe. MD doesn't tend to do features on players that Barcelona isn't genuinely interested in.

Just give him a 3+1 year contract with increased wages. The fecker's earned every penny as far as I'm concerned

Sounds like contract renegotiations, zero truth to his links to Barcelona
I wouldn't say zero truth since there are many different sources talking about that, although I think that doesn't make too much sense.
He would be too expensive (50/60m€?) and although is a good player,is not so young and is not a top top midfielder, and not even catalan.
Barsa should pay seriously to try to get Verratti or find some new Rakitic in la liga paying around 30m€.

That's the point isn't it? The narrative was in place since winter that Valverde was the rumoured replacement, and largely panned by fans - even by their own polls

I've been following Barcelona for nearly 2 décades and Sport & MD go through varying periods of credibility - largely unreliable. That being said, MD is closest to the board atm. So if they publish something, it has tacit approval from the board & vice versa.

City's team could look pretty tasty next season.

Ederson
Walker Kompany Otamendi Mendy
Carvalho
Silva De Bruyne Silva Sane
Aguero
Meh. Same was said this season. You cant have that attacking of a team and hope to succeed. Theyll be good going forward but awful defensively again.

Kompany will always be injured, otamendi is average at best, ederson is an unknown in terms of how he'll adapt to the league, tyen you vant play that front 5 and only someone like william carvalho (who is a bit meh anyway). If they get an actual balanced side with a good defence, then i'd be worried. Until rhen, they can sign all the attackers they want and it wont make a difference. Aguero, jesus, bernardo, de bruyne, silva, sane, sterling and whoever else cany all play together. Its 4 of those max.

League wise Herrera is clearly happy. But I honestly think we have the same chance as Barcelona winning the CL next season. As in both teams won't be favorites nor will they win it.

Doubt Milan would pay another 70-80 million Euros for another striker, while buying Morata for 60m

... Apart from the homegrown players?

Erm sure - if you ignore the homegrown players who just got criticised for singing anti-City songs after the Europa cup final

What i meant is that he is the only one that shows it in the matches against them, like F.ex Neville.
He really puts in extra effort against them.
Wasn't talking about twitter heroes or singing about them.

It doesnt say they are getting both. It says they like both.

I went of the complement each other line. If they like both, they'll try to get both I guess, obviously there's no guarantee that they will.

They wont try to get both. They will get one. Both will cost about 100 million pounds.

Doubt Belotti would cost close to 70 million, more like 40 max.

Dybala cost 40 million including 8 in addons after Zamparini claimed that he is worth around 100.

their president claimed he rejected a 65m offer. Difference is Belotti has a buyout clause apparently, Dybala didnt have one. Dont know if he lied, but he wont be cheap either. Think around 60m could do it. I dont think it would take a lot of money, they sold Darmian for 18m euros too, which is relatively cheap for Premier League standards

Bale, Pogba and Griezmann in the same side would be the dream Fifa side.

bale's injuries are a concern, his football is based around is physical prowess.

Even if he's on the bench, nothing changes. This is not a Berbatov situation where he was completely left out of the squad. He know he was injured for most of the season and Isco has been doing a better job than him. This one match won't decide if he stays at Madrid or not.

How much would Bale cost nowadays?

Madrid spent £85m on him in 2013 and they probably overpaid. Prices have gone up but he's older and a lot more injury prone now.
