Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I think we almost signed him in 2002?

I hadn't heard of him for ages. Would have thought he had retired by now. Good on him.

And yes, we were linked and I think we even played a pre-season friendly with Boca with everyone in here keeping an eye on him.

Kevin Kampl switches from Bayer Leverkusen to RB Leipzig, move is expected to be finalized today (well, duh).

I like Kampl, a lot of quality there - have always wondered how he'd do in a bigger club, seems a lateral move but probably comfortable in Germany

Should be an improvement to Leverkusen, at least they play in the CL this year.

He was originally supposed to join Leipzig from Salzburg, moved to Dortmund instead, flopped miserably, moved to Leverkusen for a couple of years, and is ending up at Leipzig eventually anyway.

What are Arsenal doing?
Selling Gibbs & Ox, trying to sell Mustafi and are also quite likely to lose Sanchez. How do they plan to cover this?

Wait there was once they legendary deadline day when Wenger signed a bunch of players in a few hours..

Mahrez not going to arsenal

This guy is like the grim reaper for Arsenal. Keeps delivering bad news after bad news. They'll end up keeping so many players who want to leave and the overall morale of the team is going to take a huge hit.

Maybe he's so pissed he is just selling everyone and playing youth. That's what I'd do.

There's no way Arsenal can sell Sanchez and not bring anyone in. Either they're confident getting someone of City, Sanchez is staying or Wenger has lost the plot. The latter looking more likely as the days go on.

Make no mistake about it, if City gets Sanchez (and Evans), in theory, they will be the clear favourites to take the title this season and they'll be a threat in Europe.

Assuming Sanchez replaces Aguero in their team.is he really a huge improvement?

Curious what Dortmund fans think of his time at BVB, he has always looked terrific to me

Don't understand why City need / want him. They can't currently fit in Aguero, Bernardo Silva. Then Sterling and Sane are also on the bench both of which cost over £40m and of a young age.

I also can't understand why we don't go for him. At least he would start for us.

So that they can be stronger in depth. I think the average elite team needs about six solid forward liners.

Lukaku
Rashford
Martial
Ibrahimovic
Lingard
Mata
Miki (?)

Vs

Aguero
Jesus
Sane
Sterling
Silva / De Bruyne (?)
Sanchez (incoming)

Vs

Firminho
Mane
Salah
Sturidge
Milner
Lemar (incoming)
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin (incoming)

Vs

Morata
Willian
Pedro
Hazard
Bathsuayi
Fabregas (?)
Llorente (incoming)

Which is stronger?

*The names with the question marks are players who are deployed at times as forwards.

Marotta maybe trolling about no more movements from Juve but

out: Bonucci, Alves, Lemina, Rincon
in: Howedes, De Sciglio, Matuidi, Bentancur, Douglas Costa, Bernardeschi

is good enough for aiming high this season again

Serie A title and deep stages (semi's) of the CL again I think this season, Bonucci will be a loss but I think Juve are capable of replacing him between Howedes and more minutes for Rugani, and with Costa and Bernardeschi you have the sort of danger from wide-forwards/inverted wingers that I don't think I've seen you have a while which gives you more options.

Why? i wonder. Why are us and chelsea not considered as favourites? We have equally good and deep squad, and certainly a better defense.

That's why I said 'in theory'. Walker, Danilo, Ederson and Mendy certainly up their defense considerably. On paper, they are up there with most in the league.

Sanchez and Aguero mean having two of the leagues deadliest attackers in world football in one team. I think that will make up for some other shortcomings the team might have.

There was talk of Barca.

Exactly. Aguero is still at City, Sanchez will be playing alongside him.....and Silva....and De Bruyne....That's a hell of a forward line even before you bring in the likes of Bernardo, Jesus and co.

He'll play deeper now.

So Sky are saying United and Chelsea were chasing Aurier, but he's chosen to move to Spurs because of Levy and Pochettino

They'd say anything to sound interesting, tbf.

But is it really laughable that a player would like to be a part of Pochettinos project at Tottenham? I actually like the thought, that the bigger club isn't neccesarily more attractive.

Really? Bigger more successful organisation would like to employ you and pay you double of what the smaller, unsuccessful company has offered and you'd choose the latter? That makes no sense to me.

Nope. He just gets injured less. I see the signing as more of a kick in the balls for us when we need a player of his quality, and City don't, yet are still getting it done.

City actually needs another forward, strange as it may sound. Today's elite sides use about six out and out forwards for quality in the first eleven and depth on the bench to be able to handle multiple competitions.

Right now City has Aguero, Jesus, Sterling, Mane, with one of Bernado, De Bryune and silva pushing forward enough. Alexis will be a very good addition to them in that regard. Nevertheless, there is this saying in football transfer circles, ' A super star player is never a luxury buy'. Alexis will always be much more than 'kicking a rival team in the balls'. We know he will add goals, assists and star power to the City squad.
