Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Are Monaco happy to just gut the squad? Never seen an exodus quite like this, of course they are far better at finding talent/taking risks on the top talent than other clubs but still it's quite strange. I remember they wanted to be a real force till the owner got taken to the cleaners in a divorce settlement with his wife. I suspect he's edging closer to getting that back. Should have just got pre nups though .

They know they'll finish 2nd in the league regardless and money for progression in champions league doesn't compare to these huge transfer fees. May as well follow the cash

Everybody said Leicester missed a trick not cashing in after their title win. Monaco aren't making that mistake.

I'm sure they are not 'happy' at all. The players want to leave.

I don't think much of Munir.

With these bids going in for Evans I wonder if the club would be tempted to sell Smalling if a big bid came in.... The Bailly and Jones suspensions probably mean no. But we have too many CBs.

Laughable attempt by Liverpool if true. They really need to sort out their defense, but instead they throw out an £80m bid for a player that they not only don't need but also has just one very good season under his belt, in the french league.

Remains to be seen until it plays out, I mean if they were to get Lemar and VVD for the price of Coutinho then that wouldnt be bad business at all.

Even if they get VVD or another CB I'd spunk out money on a left back ahead of Lemar

Seems like we are done then for this window, I'm quite gutted to be honest as I still do not believe we are strong enough to win the league whilst playing in Europe. The full backs and wide players not good enough for me....but what the feck do I know!

Maybe we pull off a surprise deadline day deal.

Hey I agree, their attack is fine. I'd take the Coutinho money and upgrade as many at the back as possible including the goalkeeper. But they wouldnt do that as they'd want to be seen to be "replacing" Coutinho too so Lemar and VVD would be excellent business for the Coutinho money.

Not a good example. Leicester had 3 desirable players in Kante, Vardy and Mahrez and decided to sell one, Kante.

If they sold both Mahrez and Vardy last summer they would have got what, another 60-70m? And then risk being relegated from the Premeir League which pays a minimum £90m for being part of it.

French League is a weaker competition with less money in it. Monaco can sell and be safe that they'll still be near the top. And the money they get from transfer fees easily trumps what they get from league participation.

I am not worried about Liverpool one bit as title contenders but this signing would definitely make them stronger. Hopefully Monaco refuses for any kind of deal.

Lemar would definitely make them contenders for me so I hope Monaco refuse, I actually think they are now if Coutinho stays. Lemar, Coutinho, Lallana, Mane, Firmino, Salah, Sturridge, Origi - would make for a very strong attack.

Curious as to whether you think we are genuine title challengers - I think we would be with no European distractions, at the moment though I still think we will battle for 3rd or 4th especially if we make no further signings.

IMO a stupid buy for them. Will he start ahead of Mané? I doubt it. So why would you want a £60m/£70m player sat on the bench.

Liverpool lack a goalscoring striker, a goalkeeper and defenders and they are never linked with any of these.

Definitely, Right before the start of season I posted in other threads too we will the title or will be in title race right till the end. I don't see us finishing below top 2 or 3.

Lemar to Liverpool would be a massive surprise, Mbappe going would be the final one IMO. Lemar to Pool id give about 3/10 chance

I hope you are right, I do like the look of us this season and Matic is a great buy so far. My worry is injuries, like all clubs can suffer and squad rotation. I really worry if we have to rely on the likes of Young, Lingard, Darmian, Carrick, Fellaini etc who despite being decent players are not good enough against top opposition imo.

I had high hopes for Pereira but looks like he may be going out on loan. Maybe we will get someone else in but for me it is clear we need a proper wide player as Jose allude to early on in the window.
