Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

There were rumors arsenal will go vvd.

Then they should sign VVD first and then consider selling Mustafi. There's 4 days left in the window, there's no guarantee that they'll pull off the VVD deal considering how Soton are sticking to their guns and that Chelsea and Liverpool seem to be in for him too.

Also, they just sold Gabriel couple of weeks ago. For a team that plays with 3-4-3 which requires 3 CBs they are left with only 4 currently (Koscielny, Holding, Mertesacker, Mustafi), maybe 5 if you add Kolasinac who's actually a LB/LWB. If they want to trim the squad they should start with some of the 4 RBs they have (Chambers, Jenkinson, Debuchy, Bellerin) that never play, not the CBs.

It's just terrible management from Wenger, but nothing less than we've come to expect over the last 6-7 years.

Some reasonably priced player's to be had from PSG..

I thought FFP only bans clubs AFTER they break the rules, are they allowed to stop transfers?

Who's to say PSG can't find a toilet sponsor for 155m?

You know , it's arsenal and Wenger. May be they need the money to go big.

Nah they probably know they'd be in breach of FFP and don't want to risk losing out on Champions league etc.

That's what I thought as well.

...Because we all know the popularity of those luxury Qatari toilet seats.

Exactly, if they really wanted to, they could even get Qatar Kitchen Supplies to become United's official cutlery supplier for 400m, and we can buy their tea lady for 200m. :D

Agreement reached between the #Monaco #PSG around 180 million euros bonus for Kylian #Mbappé. 5-year contract for Mbappe.

RMC and Bouhafsi are as good as it gets when it comes to French football IMO. It's done.

Disgusting amount of money for a teenager, the pressure that kid will be on. I'm not surprised Monaco have accepted it. All the promise in the world but he is still raw and not the finished article. He may never reach his supposed heights.

The transfer fee virtually guarantees he will never be perceived as reaching his full potential and will be labelled a flop at some point.

Probably no risk for the Qatari owners though. If he flops it's like losing a penny down the sofa.

Wasting his career stuck in the French league. He's bottled it and taken the easy route I think. Why not stay at Monaco and get your move to Madrid and really challenge yourself? He'll never be the best player in the world now.

So €400m spent on two players? You got to genuinely fear for the future of the game. Those sugar daddies are killing the game. I hate this money is no object approach adapted by these rich Arabs.

I will take money to ruin the game over those 2 stamping on other clubs necks by tapping classless player just because they exist, coming with statements like " we will see if X player is born to play for us"

The only 2 ways he can now ever leave France and stand a realistic chance of claiming the Ballon D'Or are -
1. He flops badly and some mid table team with decent resources buys him where he becomes successful to be captured by a big club
2. RM/Barca/Us/City/Chelsea pay 350m or more to buy him

He'll never be the best player in the world because he took a gigantic pay increase to play in Paris alongside Neymar? Odd reasoning.

It's unlikely they would go every summer spending similar sum on 2 players and having substitute bench full of dream team players. Look at Madrid in 2009 summer. That was crazy sum in one window. In the end, Madrid eased out with less and less expensive signings over time while those initially investment bear fruits; while the transfer fee they paid eventually became bargain.

Not as much pressure as if he were going to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid could argue they bring in enough figures to justify spending large sums. PSG aren't even that big to claim the could do the same.

Because the French league isn't challenging enough week to week. Not that hard to understand what I was getting at.

I feel like insane moves like this would be the necessary catalyst for the higher ups in football to actually do something about it. I just can't see this being allowed with no repercussions by the people in charge. But if they do throw reason out the window and allow everything, I guess we couldn't have done too much about it and football might be fecked long term

Think Mbappe's made the wrong decision here. What happens when he gets sick of playing in France and wants to test himself in a better league? There's no way PSG would let him leave just like Verratti has found out in the past couple of transfer windows.

I think he's referring more to the competition he plays week in week out. But then that argument doesn't really work when La Liga is equally as bad below the top 5 teams.

To put thing into perspective, Kaka and Ronaldo combined fee alone was outrageous fee. Rememeber Kaka was like 1.5x previous world record fee and Ronaldo 2x. In Kaka case, he even flopped. PSG already had the frame with the like of world class potential level in Thiago Silva, Verratti and few other elite level players. Madrid made a wholesale change with Perez restart the Galaticos project.

The point lies with it's unlikely to happen every summer. Simply squad management ain't gonna allow that since top players just don't want to be left on bench.

Nah, La Liga is a much stronger league from top to bottom IMO.
