Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

They will be this season. Their squad is awful and they've only gone backwards since last season (their 2nd half of last season was disastrous btw, go to a West Brom forum and you'll see the majority want Pulis out)

They definitely haven't, like every pulis team. There is 0 chance they will go down. I know west Brom fans and it's the mediocrity that they want out, they know that pulis will keep them safe, but it's just bloody dull.

They've lost a hugely important player in Fletcher. The only players they've brought in are Jay Rodriguez who you could say is an improvement, Gareth Barry who is a downgrade on Fletcher, and Hegazi who is just a backup. Add on to the fact that they have a very old squad including a 38 yo McCauley who was one of their most important players last year, and the likelihood that Evans and Chadli will be sold and I struggle to see how you could claim they haven't gone backwards. If West Brom don't pick up enough points in their early games there's a good chance Pulis won't even be the manager of West Brom by the end of the season.

They have the same conversation every start of the season and every season west Brom will be mid table safety - giving up once they're mathematically safe, as per. Gareth Barry and Fletcher are very equal in terms of ability, not sure why you think he's a downgrade. Hegazi has started all their pre season games since he joined and had an extremely solid debut, I'm not sure where you're idea of back up is.

I also find it highly unlikely that Evans will be sold for anything but a very large fee and they'll easily replace him. Not to mention they actually have some very decent prospects in field and leko.

There's been talk about the likes of Field, Leko, and Wilson for a while but none of them were utilised much last season and ultimately they're all unproven. If Chadli failed to offer any real creative spark for West Brom it's difficult to see Leko suddenly being able to come in and offer that. Not sure about Evans being easily replaceable. Most West Brom fans seem to consider him their best player and I would agree with that. We'll see who West Brom end up spending the Evans money on if they do sell him. The team as it currently stands isn't good enough for midtable imo.

€300m release clause for a 31yo (this time next year). Would City it? Who knows.

Rumours saying he still haven't signed the new contract, so his contract is until 2018 at the moment.

If that's case, he won't be signing a new contract, no world class player would. I don't know whats going on at Barca but these last few years they've made some shocking, shocking signings and let some quality players go. You would think now with Neymar leaving they would go all out and buy the best talent at all costs but all they doing as usual is dithering. They should go all out and get Hazard (replace Neymar) and Coutinho (replace aging Iniesta) and weaken a rivals of ours in the process.

He's older than Matic, one foot in the grave

Even if he were 25, you'd have a split forum arguing whether he could 'survive' the premier league.

Fwiw I'd love to see him on a regular basis (I don't watch that much Liga and most of my poignant memories are him destroying us in finals :( )

Hope we have alternatives.
Mourinho press conference seems indicate we have moved on from this transfer window, unless something externally going our way. So I personally don't have high hope for another signings

Fair, I see your points. I just think the brand of defensive football they play and with a battering ram like rondon up front, they'll just end up in exactly the same position as last year. With regards to the Field and Leko, they're actually a bit more of age now. Leko was hyped as a 16, now 18 and field is now 19. You'd expect them to play a much bigger role this season. Not to mention they turned down quite a few loans for Field this season. Cant say I know a great deal about Wilson though.

You won't have a split even at him being 30. I am fairly confident 80% people would want him.

Sad state of affairs at barca that they are even considering an ex madrid cast off. If there is anyone who can do that to madrid it is the snake, come on you snake make your haters proud.
