I agree. Shame we weren't in for him, I definitely think we would be if SAF was still in charge, Jose looks for different attributes and we still have to get Martial firing again.

If Fergie was here we would have made a move when he was at Rennes. His next move will be to Spain.

Mbappe is a Madrid fan whilst Dembele is a Barcelona fan. The big two getting the big talents again.

Dembele has two established European giants in Spain fighting over him, where he can slot into their system and light up whatever side he's playing against. He isnt coming to us, who are on the re-build, so all this "Dembele>Peresic/Bale" stuff is irrelevant.

It's like people think management doesn't think these things through.

I guess something like Dembele -> Barca, Mbappe/Hazard -> Real, Bale -> Chelsea/United would make sense.

I have no idea why Dortmund would give up Dembele so easy. A lot of years left on his contract and no release clause.

Hillarious if Dembele ends up st Barca. everyone was wanking off each other furiously over the Neymar transfer while They have a cheque for a cool 200 Million and the next big thing in Dembele

That'll teach em...
Are they signing him on a free then? 'Cos I would have thought around half of that 200 will be going on actually getting Dembele.

Oh please - it's a myth that Ferguson picked up a lot of super-talented youngsters

It's not a myth. We wouldn't have gone for him when it was a fight with Real and Barca, IF AT ALL - it would have been the move before, like when he left France.

Fergie was rarely fighting it out for world record deals, but he'd get in the mix, if he liked the player, a bit earlier.

Dembele looks a great talent but wouldn't act like he's a certainty to become the next big thing. A lot of players have looked like absolute gems at Dortmund. Gotze was rated even higher than Dembele when he was at Dortmund and that obviously didn't work out. Probably as good a replacement as Barca could hope to get but not sure he's ready to replace Neymar's goal contribution. Important signing for the future though no doubt.
Agree with this. He's slotting straight into a high pressure situation in a team on the slide. How many youngsters have left Dortmund and really shone? Götze, Sahin, Kagawa have all struggled despite stellar years prior to departure. He's a massive prospect but no certainty.

Di Marzio needs to brush up on his English, muppets depend on him and he can't let important details like that slip by.

I don't really know what it means to be honest...

Just misinterpreted by British readers I think.

He meant it like 'Real ready to move on Mbappé'. Basically, just saying they are ready to make their move.

How many successful young wingers did fergie buy? I can only think of Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo: "I've never had a [tax] problem in England, that's why I'd like to go back, unless you give me a new contract, pay the fecking 'tax' whatever it is and give me more monies."

I'm a mind reader, I know what he really meant to say.

Sanchez has clearly rejected us before. So not even a question. Dembele hasnt. Sure he might have a preference of Spain but things dont workout then we could be a possibility is what I want to see.

Anytime a top club does not go for a player there are three most probable reasons:

1. The club is not interested in that player for any of many reasons.

2. The player is not keen on joining the club even if the club is interested in him. This, the club would easily know after the first initial direct or indirect contacts with the player.

3. The employer (the club that has the player under contract) of the player is not at all keen on selling the player to the interested club.

Based on these possible reasons, one cannot simply assume that by not bidding for a player, United never saw the merits of signing such a player. For all we know, Dembele could have made it clear to United reps that he is not at all keen on playing in Manchester.
