Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

We spent 90m on Pogba and 75m on Lukaku, aren't you satisfied with that? You want Woodward to just pay whatever other teams ask instead of negotiating like every other team does? People like you don't understand the repercussions of paying OTT for every player we try to sign, we have already wasted so much money buying average players since SAF left and we can't keep spending 200M+ every season. If you are talking only about full backs, maybe Mourinho is happy with our options at RB and LB. Thank god Woodward doesn't think like you, otherwise we would have been paying OTT money for every Tom, Dick and Harry out there.
The money has needed spending. That is why we have become also rans.

That's madness.
Plus he played for Monaco. This isn't Neymar, Ronaldo or Kaka who brings a lot of casual fans with them, it's the circus of it all that brings the exposure.
Thats a huge difference with a lot more pressure.

Who would be the backup striker in that case?
I don´t know. The most logical would be to keep Mbappé and Benzema, but I think Benzema has too much caché to be substitute striker.
Perhaps the most appropriate would be a low profile striker but It doesn´t sound realistic either.
Bale's choice sounds great, as it would allow top players to change their positions and more minutes for Asensio. It also seems that Zidane would rather sell Bale. However I do not see any team for him except United

Judgments before season begins and completely in isolation of the season past?

1. We just won the League Cup and the Europa. City won the sum total of bugger-all.
2. We were just a bunch of missed-chances away from being well in the mix for third spot - before putting our eggs into the EL basket. City of course, went hell for leather and came...third.
3. City outspent us last summer and had a better core to build around (not recovering from an LvG) while also having built for Pep for a while...but weren't a million miles away

This season, we've added key players and are still in the market for more. We're working like a professional organization while City are working like what they are - the playthings of an oil baron.

Why not wait till we actually see league performances before judging?

Note: I too wish we'd get all our additions in quickly, but really, to contend that we should be spunking money like City is bizarre. Do Stones, Mangala, Demicheles, Otamendi et al scream out about value? And don't forget, a professional organization needs to generate value or else it'll implode far sooner than you realize.

Incredible how one Marca article has spawned hundreds of "according to" articles in minutes, even people like Di Marzio getting in on the act.

If Mpabbe agrees to join without one of those 3 leaving then he is a moron.
I'm sure he will receive reassurances and that bale or benzema will miss out to accommodate him in the worst case. but once he is signed i think Benzema will go, maybe one of the Italian teams?

Whatever they reached an agreement or not, it's normal Monaco won't confirm anything till it's fully done, similar to Everton in Lukaku deal.

Ravanelli to Boro was always ridiculous to me. Thats like Bournemouth spending 60m for a player before the EPL money boom

Surprised everyone jumped on that without backing it up first. Shoddy.

You mean fans?

Yes we are working like a professional organization. Not like Real who need a new shiny toy to play with every year and then throw away the old toys or like City who are trying to sign every other player out there by paying OTT money. Some fans want us to spend just for the sake of spending.

Its amazing how people are quick to forget that we have tried the throwing around stupid money route too, and that didnt work out either

Van Gaal spent 250mil here. We have had to get rid of the majority of those signings at massive losses. That will weight heavily on our finances. Also,we signed Pogba for a world record fee last year. Half of that fee is due this year(As confirmed by Juventus themselves). We are definitely working within financial constraints. City are not.
