Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

That silhouette is 100% Neymar, so just depends whether he's holding a PSG shirt up, or a Barca shirt with a new contract.

I think from what's been happening a renewal + more money seems the likeliest.
It is pure greed and attention seeking no matter what happens.

No, but you disprove the Pep the genius myth when he's had everything on a plate as evidenced by his spending even with a year off.

The genius tag comes from the response of players who have all played and trained under him in relation to his tactical insight.

I recall, at Barca, Bayern and City players remarking that they had learned ways at seeing the game or approaching it that they hadn't learned under previous coaches. This has been a consistent thing across every club he's managed at. If he didn't have a meticulous mind for detail and a great sense for seeing the small details then he obviously wouldn't have won the plaudits of his playing staff and/or co-workers.

All managers rely on the chequebook, who cares.

That statement isn't exactly true, you have managers that don't really rely on the chequebook but these managers aren't expected to compete. Managers at top clubs will all rely on the wage bill because they need the best players to achieve the goals that they have been given, they are all in a "Win now" mode.

You sure about that? How much did he spend so far?

I assume so, it was done before the fees were announced for either, and he's spent around £210m ~ £220m now. The numbers don't quite mesh up though, so I think he might have included potential add ons in some of his calculations.

Why would PSG have a press conference if Neymar is signing a new contract at Barca?

That consensus doesn't exist. It's a straw man created by people who wants to have a dig at Pep.
Maybe, i just find it lame to judge managers on account of how much they rely on the available resources. Teams need to be refreshed and flushed with quality every season to keep the competitive spirit healthy.

I think the media coverage plays an important role. Jose has always been called a chequebook manager, there's nothing else really. Most of it is created to get clicks, sell newspapers. They created the 'anti football' manager out of an astute tactician. People are just reacting to such dross.

The tweet says it's an unexpected press conference that's been called. Surely that would be expected?
Sometimes tweets can be wrong. I'm not 100% sure but I think the Barca thing is just a routine meetup with the press, the buzz coming from Piqué being scheduled and the opportunity to ask him about "Se queda".

Guys, I know it's crazy but the graphic of Neymar might be something B/R Football threw together, rather than being official club design.

I know, it's totally crazy.

From Sky Sports -
  • Barcelona are expected to make a second bid for Liverpool star Phillippe Coutinho, according to Sky sources.
Liverpool have already turned down a £72m bid, insisting the Brazilian is "100 per cent not for sale".

  • Chelsea news - We understand Chelsea will sign three or four more players this summer. They're still interested in Virgil van Dijk. He wants to leave Southampton but they don't want to sell. He wants to go to Liverpool but that potential move has been complicated by a so-called tapping up row. Manchester City also want the defender.

Chelsea are chasing Juventus left-back Alex Sandro. Juventus are reluctant to sell because they've already sold Leonardo Bonucci and they are offering Sandro a new contract. Chelsea are going to have to go to £60m to have any chance of getting Sandro. Other full-backs they're interested in are Southampton pair Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares.

Chelsea tried to sign Fernando Llorente in January and they are trying to get the Swansea striker again. Conte knows Llorente well having worked with him at Juventus.

Another player Conte likes is Antonio Candreva. The Inter Milan winger can play as a wing-back and Conte tried to sign him in January. He's 30 now and Inter wouldn't let him leave for less than £20m. His agent says there is an 80% chance of Candreva staying at Inter.

Verbal agreement between Madrid and Monaco for Mbappé worth €180m

WOW

The Barcelona pressy was scheduled but Piqué featuing along with Mascherano is the main reason why there is a buzz to it as BBRBB pointed out. Occurring at 1730 EST so 2330 CET, plenty of time for this to yo yo longer & owing to Geri's Presidential aspirations not even convinced he will end the speculation

WOW

I read that was close but for 130m€. I wonder if Bale or Karim will leave if he signs.
My bet is still Benzema

BS again hee wont move until one of Benzema, Ronaldo or Bale have been sold.

Mbappe will come and neither of these will leave. No surprise for me if Bale is reduced to the bench for their shiny new tool.

Isco would probably leave then. He won't be happy being third choice.

That would be intriguing to see Isco depart. Would we be interested? Should we be interested?

I think City (yes, City with their 500 midfielders) and Spurs would be interested from the PL. Doubt Mourinho would be interested as he wasn't interested in Bernardo. Isco would be a great signing for anyone.

keep regurgitating the same shite over and over again and one day who knows they may be right in 10 years time and can do the old "We broke it back in 2017" not mentioning that they "broke the storey" every year since then and failed. This goes for most players not just Mbappe.

So that article says the price of Mbappe is either €160m+20m in add ons or €150m+30m in add ons. Either way, that's a final fee of €180m (over £160m). As well as Mbappe has performed at the age of 18, that is a massive risk to take on a player that has less than a full season in the first team.

Mata has somewhat similar play style to isco, but sure of lower quality now than what he was when he was younger, so I'll go on and say we'll need to get rid of Mata first if we want to get Isco.

People laugh at Citeh spending money and it is embarrassing in a way but what is worse is us earning the money (the fans supporting the club) and the club raking in the cash instead of strengthening the squad because we are being cheap while our rivals pay £50 for 2 full backs each.

We spent 90m on Pogba and 75m on Lukaku, aren't you satisfied with that? You want Woodward to just pay whatever other teams ask instead of negotiating like every other team does? People like you don't understand the repercussions of paying OTT for every player we try to sign, we have already wasted so much money buying average players since SAF left and we can't keep spending 200M+ every season. If you are talking only about full backs, maybe Mourinho is happy with our options at RB and LB. Thank god Woodward doesn't think like you, otherwise we would have been paying OTT money for every Tom, Dick and Harry out there.
