Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Love Chicharito. Hate West Ham so much that I want that club to be relegated and sink faster than Portsmouth.

I prefer Liverpool to West Ham.

Oh Javier. What have you done. //meltdown.

I agree with the below posters...

... we need to publicly end interest and move on. Inter obviously want to keep the player beyond the point of accepting a reasonable bid for him.

They know there's 0 chance of us paying 50m + Martial for Perisic. They are not even trying to get an actual deal out of this. They are seeing our persistence for Perisic as interference that is unsettling their player and are responding in kind by involving Martial in the rumours.

Perisic has not slapped a transfer request or made any fuss. Unless that changes, we need to just back off and move to the next one.

I disagree. Let them think we're interested until 9.00pm on the last day of the transfer window. Let them stew for longer.

Incidentally, I wonder why Peresic hasn't asked for a transfer i.e. officially ask to leave the club (if he really wants to join us).

Yep, don't get the "feck Inter" stuff. They want as good a deal as possible for their player, as would we if we were in their position.

Nah, we tend to be very helpful sellers and mainly only ask for loose change

The Icelandic crew on here are ridiculously overly defensive about Sigurdsson. He's a decent player and a club like Everton is about right for him but that fee, Christ.

He's better than every attacker at our club, you know?

It is over priced but what are Swansea supposed to do with 30 million? Even with 45 million they're gonna struggle to replace him. What player can Everton get who will be as effective and at similar wages to Gylfi as well?

Klopp in 2016:
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists he is unfazed by his team's big-spending rivals, saying paying £100 million for one player is the wrong approach.

The German has added the likes of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum to his squad, but those transfers pale in comparison to the reported £100m fee Manchester United are set to pay for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

However, Klopp said he had no interest in doing the same, worried about the risks of paying so much for one player.

"If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney," he said.

"The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore, because the game is about playing together.

"That is how everybody in football understands it. You always want to have the best, but building the group is necessary to be successful.

"Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money.

"I don't know exactly how much money we could spend because nobody has told me, 'No, you can't do this'.

"If I spend money, it is because I am trying to build a team, a real team. Barcelona did it. You can win championships, you can win titles, but there is a manner in which you want it."

Klopp said he had no interest in being drawn into a competition with other clubs over the same signings.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach said he preferred to look at potential, and players who could add to his squad as a whole.

Klopp said: "If you all swim in the same pool, the pool is too small - you all go for the same players.

"There are a lot of players outside that pool - good players on to the next step in their career. We try to find them.

"The best player of the last season is good to know but it is more interesting trying to find out who will be the best next year.

"If you knew it now that would be a really cool transfer! It would be much cheaper too. That is what we work for.

"It is not about being creative because creative is cool or something. It is about finding the players who can make the next step with us."

Klopp in 2017: Bids £70 million+ on Keita.

People laugh at Citeh spending money and it is embarrassing in a way but what is worse is us earning the money (the fans supporting the club) and the club raking in the cash instead of strengthening the squad because we are being cheap while our rivals pay £50 for 2 full backs each.

We just spent £75m (or whatever the feck the fee is today) on a striker.

Yeah, we are cheap, ignoring having spent hundreds of millions in the past few years. Lots of signings didn't work out, but that's not the clubs fault.

We signed a player 2 weeks ago that could literally become the most expensive player ever currently if he meets some bonus objectives. This is after signing the current most expensive player ever last season. Cheap?

And, what like 60m on Van Dijk. Klopp is selling out.

He's such a character.

How many times do they have to tell Liverpool that Keita isn't for sale?

Liverpool are the footballing equivalent of James Bond. They see a stunning model they like, pursue her, keep showing their interest and won't take no for an answer. The difference being, James Bond usually ends up with the girl; Liverpool end up with a restraining order and apologising in the media for harassment.

And there was me thinking I dreamed it.

This Keita deal is just so strange, I admit that I have not seen him play much but I can't remember anyone ever being linked with such a huge move after one season . Also what boggles my mind is that Liverpool are so crazy about him but not a single other club has been linked with him

Ok tell me, how is that fee so much insane than for say Lukaku or Morata?? Both good players but the market today is insane and if Lukaku is worth 50M and some English players then surely Gylfi is woth the similiar..
