Yeah, ok.. you never wanted Morata now.
I think we wanted both. However, we probably wanted Morata at a lower price than what Chelsea are paying.

Assuming Morata wanted to come to United, we could've got him cheaper than Lukaku. Surely if Morata was first choice, we would've signed him then?

It is, but so is Lukaku's. I would be wanting a better quality player for the money we have paid. If we get Griezmann it will be for around the same money and he is better.
I can get Lukaku because of the premiership premium and because he was second top scorer in the league last season.

Morata was bought for 30 mil just a few seasons ago and has played very little since then.

Both are ridiculous prices. But this even more.

Not saying that, but it's clear Lukaku was our first choice and we were holding out for him. We weren't haggling to save money, we were stalling until we got Lukaku.
How is making a bid of over €70m stalling? If we had accepted that offer Lukaku might have signed for Chelsea today.

Nah, I don't think United was ever trying to get 2 expensive new strikers in. It was one of both imo.

We dint want both that's for sure. The Rooney offloading made the net spend on a striker lesser in case of lukaku who has already scored 85 goals in 4 seasons.

Both players have their pros and cons for the price. But lukaku is less riskier and better value for money.

Educated guess but there's a reason we signed Lukaku for more than Madrid are selling Morata. We were more than likely working on both deals simultaneously and Lukaku went through. Reasoning would suggest given the money we paid for Lukaku we could have easily signed Morata instead at an earlier point in time. But we didn't.

I was honestly just being blunt in my original post to get that moaner to shut up. We didn't "miss out" on Morata in my mind. We signed Lukaku instead of him.

But Perez said we never made a bid, who do we believe?
But Mourinho said you were interested and we were negotiating for him with you. Surely you must have made a bid at some point? I don't see how else you can start negotiating.

It was reported long back that ManUtd are negotiating with multiple players but finally pull trigger for one player. Did same thing for Keane and Lndelof, Morata and Lukaku.

We are the richest club in the world,if our manager wants a player then we should go all out for him rather then penny pinch for our targets.

I'd agree if it was a bonafide world superstar, but we shouldn't be bent over by Inter for an above average winger. It sets a very dsngerous precedence for future transfers.

Like clubs fleece Madrid or city for unproved players recently.
