Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

People getting their currency and sums wrong. Castles said it is €30m after tax which if assumed 40% tax rate would be around €50m per year over 5 years. That's €250m total. Then transfer fee is €222m. Then agent and player sign on fees and viola half a billion Euro

Jose said before he gave a list of three targets for each position, even if we assume griezmann and perisic are the same position that still leaves a third target. Wouldn't be surprised if they're being worked on behind the scenes right now

Is he for real? The transfer sum are beyond the realms of United's transfer budget but not PSG or even City's.... go home Duncan your drunk.
What do you mean? We're the richest club in terms of revenue, but the owners of PSG and City are far richer than we'll ever be.

Perisic deal is so bloody boring. Pull a Lukaku on the deal Ed, entertain me.

TBF PSG have spent nothing so far, unlike ourselves or City.
I know we have spent some money but we could afford his £195 million release clause and his wages just wouldnt have enough to bring anyone else.

City on the other hand would break FFP majorly to get him an probably face CL expulsion.

The other target might have already moved clubs?

Also regarding Neymar, my guess would be PSG getting their own back for unsettling Veratti, they said before during Barcelona's chase of Thiago Silva that they'd pay the release clause of Lionel Messi and it seems Barca didn't get a warning this time.

well considering United are an actual company that is self sufficient and the other 2 clubs are state sponsored money pits, I would believe that they have a limit less budget as opposed to us.

Jose said he wants 2 more signings but might only get one more, woodward should get neymar and be done with it

English clubs are mugs when it comes to buying domestically. Do they have no European scouting dept that can find equal talent for fraction of the value?

I guess the problem is that they can't afford to take a risk on players from others leagues, if they don't adjust to the league / weather / being away from family, it can be a costly mistake.

Paying a premium for premier league proven talent I guess is the safer option. Especially when premier league survival could be at stake

I think Southampton's model puts paid to the idea that clubs can't take a risk. They can, they should just be better at laying the ground work when it comes to scouting and gathering data. As it is, such is the regard that Southampton are now held in, it makes recruiting talent much easier for them. They have a proven track record.

It pays to be smart.

I do find it quite incredible just how poor so many mid-size Premier League clubs are at recruitment. Particularly when Southampton's own model has been well documented.

I hope we sign Bernardeschi over Perisic. He's 23 years old and scores or assists in around 1 in every 3 games. Useful player with potential.

United is a club that spends its own money without the backing of oil rich economies. PSG is as much a political project as it is a football project, after their setback in the league and humiliation in the CL I wouldn't be surprised if they want to make a statement by getting Neymar.

It matters the square root of feck all that they want to pay the release clause for Lionel Messi as long as Messi doesn't want to join them.

Its been a bit of a Meh transfer season so far for us overall me thinks.

Well, at least two of the previous exciting ones (2014–2015) haven't quite worked out for us, so it might not be such a bad thing after all. Perhaps a change in this matter could be exactly what we need. The transfer window is long from being closed though.

Time will tell, I think the squad is/will be good enough and it sounds as Mourinho rates the majority of the squad too. There will probably be one or two more signings, like he said himself.

I'm more concerned with our strategy in attack. When we don't set up for counter-attacking, what's the idea?

We had no effective distinct plans last season, apart from the emergency big-boys-in-the-box some times when we needed a goal. A method I actually like, but there should be more alternatives going forward so that we don't even need to use that one too much either.

Not very sound thinking though is it.
On reading it, I must say it makes sense to me. Cashing in on Sanchez now will hurt their CL prospects. They won't be able to get a good enough replacement without paying double the amount they sell Sanchez for.

So Arsenal's plan is to keep him this year and ensure they return to the CL. Yes, they'll lose Sanchez for free, but they'll have the CL money and won't need to overpay to attract quality players (something we'd been forced to do).

There's just one issue here, Arsenal won't get top four next year.
