Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

The source is AS, doesn't seem very legit to me.

We could have heard the news from French media or some other stronger source than this.

Look at those dodgy teeth, wouldn't want him if you offered him to us for free.

wasn't it a done deal to psg not long ago?

With Costa and Fabinho, Griezmann might stay

On the contrary he's going to leave even more now.

If you told me he's staying because they're building a strong team, then I don't think we're building a relegating fighting team.

Looking through this guys twitter he seems to just regurgitate stuff from some 'Blaaaaarg times'.

Doesn't strike me as someone in the know.
He literally says the story is from AS in that tweet. Like come on.

If Fabinho does sign for any other club than United then it has to be that Jose did not want him. He would have to be the easiest player for us to sign and at a reasonable price considering what players worth any salt are going for. This would also mean Jose wants someone better.

According to that Daily Mail article, Chelsea wants to pay 37m+bonus but Monaco is stalling at 40m+ bonus. That's not a price for a back up option.

Well he's not exactly a typical cdm. He's definitely box to box like Herrera so I don't see how that's going to work unless Jose is intending to change his role.

Also, what happens then when Griezmann assumedly joins next summer?

Matic.

So all this from him and his agent about liking this team or that, and he might end up going to A. Madrid? Them bastards, first they talk Griezy into staying, now this!
I know, we are going to be kicking ourselves when he pretend signs for them in January.

No chance we sign a Chelsea or Real Madrid player anytime soon unless we pay a ridiculous fee of course.

Reckon Chelsea might be more amenable once they get Bakayoko in and can then say he rejected us to move there while we paid a fortune for their inferior 29 year old cast-off.

That's my opinion of him so that's why I don't think the transfer makes sense if we look at the other rumored targets : Matic, Fabinho and Dier, all are anchor DMFs. Either one of these rumored targets or Bakayoko news are BS.

Regarding Griezmann, I think we'll either move to 4-2-3-1 with him OR play him on the right side in 4-3-3 as a right forward who drift to the center of the field.

It's been made clear that we have no interest in Fabinho, but still some people act surprised that we're not signing him. Move on already.

Griezmann on the wing would be a terrible waste of such a talented player. If we get him, he has to play as a cam with freedom, which immediately makes this new cdm's position unclear.

He's no going to be winger, though, had I said it ? I said he'll be a right forward drifting inside to the center of the field in the 4-3-3. He's not going to stick on the flank at all.

We had done the same to Mata and Mikhi this season when we were playing good football.

Don't expect it to happen, but would be fecking hilarious.

Don't believe but imaging the scenes...

a week more of this, then it'll break we've signed someone not even mentioned.

Obviously not happening, but if it does, I'll piss myself laughing. Not kidding!

It looks like he has no idea where he is.

Haha. feck me. That same journo just tweeted 2 hours prior that chelsea deal was alnost complete...

In fact, every story he does is about chelsea...

Unbelievable...chelsea have clearly leaked this 'story' so when they get him they get to look like they beat us to him....truly, truly pathetic.

What if it's Mou planting the stories about players wanting to come to Chelsea if he already knows we locked them up instead? That would be the ultimate f you former clubski of mine move.

Would be an exceptional signing for Atlético.

Could play at right fullback in lieu of the ageing Juanfran, too.

No. Why are people wanting to get rid of Martial, our most talented player? Ever since Jose started marginalising him, people just seem to have taken that on board instead of remembering how talented the guy is.
We shouldn't allow him to go anywhere.
Most talented Played? What the feck have you been watching this last year?

Fair enough, I suppose that's possible. We'd need to be able to change formations against bigger teams in that case. I guess I find it hard to believe Jose would be playing a system where his wingers don't really defend. Despite you saying we used that system this season I don't really think we did. Rashford, Martial, and Mkhitaryan cut in a lot but ultimately they were still wingers when they played in a 4-3-3 system and did still have the task of tracking back. I couldn't see Griezmann tracking back in the same way tbh.

Almost time for the 10-10:30pm Twitter transfer storm. Popcorn ready. Who's the topic of the day today? I'm going for Bakayoko. Daily Mail reporting United have had a bid accepted.

Is it me or does it feel like Atletico are spending money earned from a potential Griezmann sale..

Defending wise any player in Jose's system will track back anyway, but while we're on the offense the right winger was always drifting inside as another playmaker while the left winger was the one hanging the flank a lot. Martial didn't succeed in hanging the flank a lot, though and that's the reason, I believe, that makes Jose play Rashford a lot on the left wing as he was hanging the flank and providing width even if he's not the best in it. That of course while we were playing good football, but at the last 2 months of the season these things disappeared.

What I want to say is the instructions given to the players while we're on defense isn't a sure thing to be applied when we're on the offense. The wingers will back track when the opposite team is attacking but that doesn't mean while we're attacking it doesn't mean those wingers will keep sticking to the flank as well, they can drift inside and that what was happening a lot with Mata, Mikhi and Lingard.

I don't want to drive this thread away from the tweets but I would like you to see this video. We may complete the discussion in another thread in order not to disturb anyone here.
