Wasn't there a narrative earlier in the summer that Conte didn't even want Lukaku and it was the board who wanted him?
Can we target one player who is agile and technically great instead all these fecking big unit lumps.
Yes, he wanted Morata and their board wanted Lukaku.
That's what was reported and Conte spat his dummy out over it apparently. Then they smoothed things over which I'm presuming Conte took to the idea of having Lukaku, now he might not be getting him he's spat his dummy back out.

We have many technical and agile players. We have lacked what Mou is rightfully targeting. And are you seriously thinking Luk is a big lump? He is a great allround striker that is exceptionally suited for our league.
Don't be harsh. I can see where he is coming from. Think people would prefer someone with a bit of finesse in there rather than someone who is just big and can put himself about. Like say a Fabinho? Jose does seem to like his big blokes.

No we don't, we pretty much have Mkhitaryan, Mata and Pogba that are high quality technical players, Lukaku is a big lump, his touch, hold up play and lack of technique are all a problem for a team looking to be at the top.
Mourinho loves to build his teams around strong players.
Yes we have Mata, but we only have 11 in a team, so very likely he won't be playing and it depends when Mkhi is back from maternity leave. That leaves us with Pogba. Although Herrera can play a bit. The interest might be if Herrera sticks one on Dier.

True, we aren't likely to see Mkhitaryan and Mata in the same team that often, especially with Jose loving the running of Rashford and Lingard.

Mata, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Pogba and Rashford all are quality technical players. Even Herrera and Blind would go into that category. I would understand your reasoning better if we had a first eleven with only big, non technical players, but we don't. We need balance in the squad, which we seriously lacked under Moyes and LVG.
I think you underestimate Lukaku immensely. He is not a great technical player, but has very good abilities for a strong and big lad and most importantly will fit our style of play and will score loads of goals.
Fabinho would likely be cheaper. People moaning about the Lukaku/Morata fees. Levy could be licking his lips at what he could get for a truly average player. It might just make our eyes water.

Martial, Lindelof (going off what I've heard), and Rashford are all gifted enough. It's a matter of consistency which should come with experience and stability. Look at Chelsea. Apart from Hazard, Faberegas and Luiz, none of their first 11 are spectacularly gifted.

Rashford isn't very good technically, Blind is but he's a sqaud player, not a regular and isn't playing in midfield or attack. We need quality technique throughout the side, no big lumbering type players that can't use the football.
I'm not underestimating him, he's a good finisher with very little else in his game, and it's the type of football having someone like him means we will play why I don't want him anywhere near the club.

You're right about Chelsea and I want us to avoid building a team that plays like they do, I thought they were utterly boring to watch last season.
Weigl's ankle will probably be better by the time Levy has taken us on a rodeo and Ed finally realisesrhere is no deal to be done with Spurs.
I wonder who they'll have to sell next year when FFP comes calling again?

I do get why you might not be a fan of Lukaku but it's tiring when you keep talking about players as big lumps etc.
You seem to have a problem with posters that want to express themselves. He's been vocal against Lukakub from day one, way before the links.

As I said in another thread, United will announce the tour squad on Sunday since that's when they'll fly out. I would imagine things are in overdrive at the moment regarding the Lukaku and Rooney deals in order to complete and announce them within the next 48 hours.
Although I guess it wouldn't be a big deal if Lukaku takes longer and he just joins up with the squad wherever they are by the time he's announced.
