Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Well No calculation, it was just a joke on how we should be paying clubs to take Rooney off us. But we do save massively on his wages so its not too far off to be honest!

For two seasons must be 60 m net

So Lukaku deal not set in stone then?

We've agreed a deal. I trust the beeb on this over fecking sky sports and the like.

The problem is - we've also agreed a deal with Cardiff for Ramsey.

We've agreed a deal, Everton are just waiting to see if Chelsea will match/beat it.

I would imagine they're worried to spend that much on a player they once sold.

This is a done deal.

Simply because Raiola is the agent. He's got too much invested with United.

Interesting, so looks like Everton will accept both United and Chelsea bids for Lukaku. I wonder if the player has committed one way or another? If he picks Chelsea, I wonder if we've burned the bridge with Madrid for Morata. Can't imagine the heads exploding if we some how manage to miss out on both.

Yep this is how I feel. As much as he looks out for him and his client first and foremost, he's not an idiot, messing us around like this would be daft on his part, and he's simply not a daft man.

Reports early on in the summer had him down as prefering Chelsea.

His mate Pogba being here might be in our advantage though.

If we can't get either then there's still Belotti if we want a classic 9. He'll probably be in the 70-80m range as well.

I agree with this thinking, it works both ways: Lukaku lives up here and is settled, his very good friend, if not best mate, plays at United. Then for Raiola he has plenty of vested interest as you rightly mention at United. Makes perfect sense.

Everton probably a little grumpy that we decided to announce that a deal was done before they could spin it.

I'd be surprised now it's gone this far, especially with Pogba in his ear on their holidays.

I can imagine Morata simply willing to leave Madrid in order to play regular football, United or Chelsea not being so different as a project, maybe Alice preferring London to Manchester or even Paris / Milan if sh*t hits the fan near the transfer deadline.

Re: Lukaku

Watching Sky Sports; James Cooper live outside Old Trafford about 5 minutes ago saying he has just spoke with Utd officials and that Everton are happy with £75m plus add ons. Just waiting on things to be "ironed out".

What I mean is that, neither one is really known for running in behind or using their blistering pace to get away from strikers. The two wouldn't compliment each other, like say a Griezmann, Mbappe, etc would, in my opinion.
I guess Rashford and Martial will come handy and complement them.

We'll be paying a large % of Rooney's wages so not exactly saving much in terms of wages either. Very useful as a bargaining chip to get Lukaku though. I do think we'll be after another striker though. If not Morata someone else, less well-known

I actually think that's rubbish. Lukaku's movement is fantastic. I also wouldn't consider him to be a target man. He's big and strong but he doesn't excel in hold up play. Instead he's excellent at turning a defender and using his pace and strength to get him into the penalty area where his finishing is excellent. Morata is more of a target man than Lukaku, though a very talented one with his feet and excellent at bringing others into play. However his finishing is a bit of a question mark atm and certainly not a match for Lukaku. His movement certainly isn't at the same level. Based on last season we're more in need of a Lukaku since Ibra was doing that all season and our other players kept missing chances.

If they could not agree a fee for lukaku remains to be seen will they will spend even more on morata or turn to belotti or make peace with costa.
I think with Chelsea being the only buyer left, they hold the cards.

Kelechi will be great for the scouse, will probably get him for a decent price as well since doped up City doesn't need to conduct themselves as a business.

He's going to Leicester. But he would be a great signing for Liverpool IMO.

I'd give them 10m to take him. Seriously though the wages saved alone is good news.
I agree with you. It was probably part of the discussion with the Lukaku transfer:
We will give you 65m for Lukaku plus 10m for taking Rooney off our hands.
