Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Really hope it's not a new contract. I know he's on around 2.5m a year which is probably on the lower end of Real players and they value him at 80m. I'm probably just panicking a little too much and he'll be ours within a week or two.

Very interesting this. I thought Pelligrini was replacement and improvement over Paredes, but now they also sign Gonalons who is a good midfielder himself.

They have - Gonalons, Strootman , De rossi, Perotti, Gerson, Florenzi, Pelligrini and Radja.

I think an exit maybe on the cards here.

So is that basically a transfer request?

Morata is considered a Madrid " local lad " after all and I don't think he'll want to leave them in a terrible way like making a transfer request. He wants to move but wants to keep good relationship with Madrid at the same time.

Which I can understand. He has to think about himself as well.

Madrid are being dicks with him, though.

Morata-United could be done in 72 hours. The positions between the teams are closer after the weekend and Mourinho has asked for an extra effort to sign him before the preseason

Matic was absolutely nailed on to sign for us in 48 hours, last week.
Now the media are using a new deadline - 72 hours.

I am seriously wondering now, if Morata is merely angling for a better contract.

I think we're right on track regarding Morata. Nothing to worry about.

His agent probably negotiated possible sell back clause or/and eventual loss of loyalty bonus. As a home grown he probably started on a low salary level with a loyalty clause for every year he stayed.

I don't think we will pay €80m. Morata isn't one of their stars so that weakened their negotiation position. Keeping a player against his will, if the buyer is ready to pay top dollar, is bad business. Also what's the point of holding a home grown player to ransom because of an offer close to 80% of your valuation, a record fee for the club btw. Perez is first and foremost a successful and wise business man. I think he sees the whole picture and not counting the last dollar. (€ if you're pedantic)

The only thing that I can see holding up the deal is probably how much we shall pay up front and numbers of payment installments.

Jesus Christ, Perez you bastard just let Morata go! Alvaro, show some of your Italian temperament and throw some chairs!

I don´t think so. He has a very good contract and he came last year. Madrid use to renew when there are 2 years left. I think that he has to leave, the fans or the club wouldn´t understand not to sell him now

From Reddit,
David Amoyal interview with Phil Brown, with quotes about Morata, Matic, Belotti, and Fabinho
This is a day or two old if I'm not wrong.
I was listening to David Amoyal (Di Marzio's English translator)'s interview with Phil Brown (host of Malachians*) on Amoyal's podcast last night, and there were a few interesting tidbits. I'm bored as heck, so figured I'd transcribe the United-related portions.

On Morata:

Amoyal: So let’s talk about some potential acquisitions that could join him (Lindelof) at United. So let’s start up front with the striker position. I think Ibrahimovic’s injury kind of changed the plans a little bit. I had a feeling they were probably going to bring in a striker anyway. So tell me what do you see Man united doing up front with the striker position?

Brown: Oohh that’s a really really good question, and I’m not certain United know the answer to that themselves. The preference was Belotti over Morata. Belotti, however, was a much harder deal to do, in that Torino were not willing to budge at all on the transfer fee and transfer valuation of him, and were not willing to do payments and stuff like that. So United shifted their focus to Morata. United have talked to about 20-25 players this summer, hence the reason they’re linked with so many people, and it makes its way into the media – and fans don’t know what’s going on. They’ve been working on plan A and plan B lists for a long time because they didn’t know what tournament they were gonna be in. It seems to me it’s going to be either one of Belotti or Morata, but just simply because Morata is someone Mourinho brought through at Madrid. He knows him; he knows how he plays. We know Morata wasn’t their first choice, but I’m not sure he’s a terrible plan B….There’s no reason why United should be dragging that deal out though. I was exchanging emails with Ed Woodward this morning (June 29th) – and he was in New Zealand last week of course – he didn’t want to say why; I think it was something to do with the Lions tour, but he seemed a little bit snippier than normal let’s just say. So I’m not sure if United’s window so far is going too well.

A: Interesting, yeah I agree with you on Belotti. The reason Torino put that exit clause for 100mil was to make it hard for him to leave, that’s the bottom-line. Belotti agreed to it – he got a nice raise. I think from his perspective staying at Torino one more season the year before the world cup – he’s only 23 or 24, If I had to bet I think it’s going to be Morata, and I think United fans will be really happy when they see him play.

On Fabinho

A: So Fabinho has become the new Pogba for me. The difference is with Pogba I actually saw him play a ton and I actually knew a lot what was going on with the deal. With Fabinho – you know we don’t cover the premier league full-time as I like to say. We’ve had reports of Manchester United being interested. Of course the French press and the English press are gonna have a lot more info on it. So from your perspective do you think Fabinho to Manchester United is realistic, or do you see some other midfielders coming in? Do you see him as a potential acquisition or someone else?

B: I do, along with Matic as well. I think it’s very very risky to replace Michael Carrick with Nemanja Matic and to leave it at that. If Matic gets injured it leaves United really exposed. So it wouldn’t surprise me to see United to go with two defensive midfielders this summer, and make sure they’re not exposed. As I’ve said before that is the key position to get the best out of a 90million pound Rolls-Royce in Paul Pogba. So for me, it wouldn’t surprise me if Fabinho’s available for a decent fee – not a bank-breaking fee – of course United have done lots of business with Monaco. United definitely met with Mendes and a couple other people relating to Fabinho a couple weeks ago, so there’s legitimate interest.Whether United end up signing him or not – United aren’t the only club that are interested in him. United have definitely spoke to him, and are definitely interested. It seems strange to me. I understand that Ed Woodward’s job is not to just rush in and throw money around, but this is a desperate situation for United, and unlike previous coaches, if Ed Woodward doesn’t get the players that Mourinho’s asking for, he is heading for a disaster with Mourinho. I could actually see Mourinho resigning from United if Ed Woodward didn’t get him the players that he asked for.

If he does have a £13m clause, I seriously would bring him back. As long as he understood his squad player status, I really don't see a downside. Reckon he'd jump at it too.
I would rather give Martial or Rashford a chance at 9 ( as well as Morata)

So from an email exchange Phil Brown is able to detect that Woodward is being snippy and of course that must be related to the transfer window. Nice story, probably bollox.

Sure I totally agree but with the assumption that Morata is the only other striker signed, Chica would be a great supersub/backup/cup player. £13m is peanuts if he chips in with 10 goals.

Chicharito left the club to become a first team player. Why would he come back, as a more established player, to be a sub?

That makes no sense. He's at the point where he should be in the prime of his career. He won't want to go back to being a sub and threatening his place on the national team again.
That's why I think he will go to West Ham. He is only good for the bench here, but he would get in their side easily and get his playing time. If he came back here and started it would not take long for people to bring up that he is always offside and doesn't do enough outside the box. He wanted playing time and didn't want to lose his international career. That is why he went and LvG of course.

Hasn't he stalled a bit at Leverkusen? He might have come to the realisation that he's best employed as an impact player. Who knows what's going on in his mind but as I said he'd have to accept that role. I think he might given the experience he's had.
