Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I can't believe we're not doing any job in the transfers all these past dead days. I'll assume Ed is working in secret and journalists know feck all. I hope that's what's happening.

This is what I think too.

Yeah lets hope that his plans actually pan out... Griezmann obviously hasn't and perisic most likely isn't either and then we're seemingly struggling to get even someone like Morata over the line and our midfield choice is reliant on Chelsea getting their player in first (why don't we just go for the younger bakayoko then?). I feel like i dont complain all that much about transfer shite but this window is frustrating so far, to say the least. Still early days of course, 2 full months to go, but I'm sure Mourinho will be pretty pissed off if in a week or so when they leave on tour and we haven't added anyone else.

I don't mind the lack of activity, as long as Mourinho gets the players he wants before the window ends.

Taking our time is understandable given the inflated transfer market. Not giving in to the batshit crazy demands of the selling clubs is the sensible thing to do.

It's certainly better than spending 50+ million on someone like Perisic.

Our transfer news have dried up. That's the way it should be imo.

I'm starting to think we're in a "where the 'uck do we go from here" situation when it comes to transfers.

I reckon Jose's list has almost be plumbed dry and now we're at a loss regarding who to target.

I just want us to actually be linked to some players at this point.

(Perisic doesn't count)

Maybe. I think our targets are Morata, Matic and Perisic. I'm certain there are other options that we have identified but what I'm wondering is, at what stage do we think 'enough is enough' and move on to the next?

It almost seems as though we have no intention of moving on to other targets. So either we believe they are close or we are being led a merry dance whilst other clubs make us wait whilst they get their shit in order.

Eh i wouldnt mind that either, and for all we know the papers might be all wrong about our targets, but we've seemingly missed out on a few of our main targets already... And 29 year old Matic for 40m when Chelsea is open to get rid by signing a younger guy to replace him (but is dependent on them signing him first) doesnt feel like the best strategy. I'm sure he'll be a decent signing and tbh, I trust Mourinho for anything defensively speaking.

Anyway I'm mainly concerned that we clearly had the worst attack from the bigger sides, have lost Ibra and are yet to sign anyone, having missed out on griezmann and probably perisic (2 who seemed like main targets) while arsenal, liverpool and city have all added on to their attack with players that would've improved us. If we get Morata, then of course it wouldn't be awful but it is a huge risk to potentially spend €90m on someone who has never been more then a squad player somewhere (yes, madrid and juve, but its not like Juve had a world class striker then). If he comes I hope he makes a big step up compared to his past, but the price is fecking ridiculous that madrid are demanding and you wonder why we dont just spend that on aubameyang or someone else like that. Its not like with pogba who we spent 90m on someone who can be the best midfielder in the world with huge marketing potential... morata is a solid hard working player who isnt the flashy type and doesnt boost the whole marketing aspect either so its just a weird one to justify, with him not being a world class player either. And he seems to be the only one we are really going for for any of our attacking positions!

I remember the days when people used to take a break from football only to occasionally read the papers to learn about which players the club has signed. This day to day stuff tends to mess with people's heads imo.

true, but clicking through every few posts kind of defeats the point of the other section

The purpose of the other thread is to inform you whether or not you want to come to this one. If you're put off by foreign tweets then you can just ignore that thread and come here where the foreign tweets have a brief translation below them.

It looks like our CEO has gone into long summer sleep. Not a hint of any activity on radar as far as our Transfers are concerned.

Hope Ed wakes up before the last day approaches.

It's July 4th Weekend. Give the guy a break to celebrate America's independence before smashing these transfers out.

Lacazette is a Sanchez kind of striker but less resilient, is Wenger planning to field them together or Alexis is on the move out, finally?
