What about Juve, PSG, Bayern - it's not like United are being left behind while everyone else is signing the best and brightest. We've signed a highly rated defender, and the only signing we've definitely missed out on is Griezmann which had nothing to do with bad transfer policy and everything to do with their transfer ban (plus I still expect him to arrive in 2018).

I don't know about Carrick (getting on), Periera (never seen him play), and TFM (primarily a defender and inexperienced). Not only will he buying numbers, he will also be buying quality and experience.
