Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

And then tweeted here at which point we're supposed to take it seriously.

Or just discuss potential pros and cons. All of this isn't THAT serious. By all means, censor away though.

Surely this week we'll see lots more movement? We fly out to the US for pre-season in two weeks I think.

Last season we had confirmed Mikhi and Bailly by now I think?

Discuss the pros and cons of complete bullshit ? That's a new one.

People should just stay in their lanes I think. People seem to want to turn into Louis Theroux and become investigators or whatever.

In an answer to your question, it's simple 'discuss the pros and cons of an article'. So what if we don't actually sign Bernadeschi, or whoever? It was on an actual professional news outlet, nobody is asking people to speculate on shares and investments based on it. Also, I'm not convinced randomweb folk from wherever are even qualified to decide which journalist football information is bullshit anyway, regardless of whatever algorithm of reliability they think they are using. These are the same people who wanted to censor any Lindelof article from Portugal based on their apparently professional appraisal that it was bollocks.

There needs to be rules though. Otherwise we'd get people quoting every crap source, people like Indykaila and The Mirror.

I think there's a difference between being rewarded by getting into the Premier League and having a suggar daddy owner that artificially inflates the value/size of the club. It would still be weird if Huddersfield got taken over by a Chinese consortium and bid £60m on a player.

Still only because of their backing though. Yeah they've done well with it and made the most of what they've been given but then who wouldn't have with that kind of financial investment over the years.

True

That's not the case. Although this thread is supposed to be a bit of speculative fun to discuss potential transfers, we do moderate the sources of tweets to make it a bit more enjoyable for people who don't have much time to live in this thread to get a sense of what is legitimate and what isn't. For example, we have an entire OP dedicated to sources we've previously identified as low quality. At the end of the day we're not here to become an echochamber for complete unsourced bullshit. We want to discuss transfers that actual reputable sport journalists who have ties to clubs, agents, and players; and are reporting on what they know so we can make a reasonable assessment as to whether a transfer is likely and what it means to next year's tactics/formations/overall strategy.

Completely get what you mean. I think Chelski will always have an element of that tbh whilst Abramovich is in charge. I'd like to see how they'd cope without him first before ditching that view of them completely.

Oh course the danger is we are heading that way with Ed's percieved galactico policy but at least we are making strides with improving our academy.

Fair enough. Wherever that line is, I'm not convinced it should be on the left side of actual news outlets and professional journalists though. Indykaila is a random punter, The Mirror are invited to United Press Conferences.

We all have different views I guess. Ultimately, whatever will happen will happen. We'll all see soon enough, and so what if we don't sign a player? What does discussing the possibility cost anyone? Not even mentioning that nobody is obligated to partake.

Anyway, given we have invented a formula to censor all liars, are we to conclude that everything that makes it into this thread is true and happening then?

You know who else is invited to United pressers ? A friend of mine who used to run a football blog a few years ago, who retained his press credentials despite currently working a full time IT job. Who they invite means feck all in terms of credibility. What matters is whether the journalist is active today; ideally working for a major news source.

Fair enough, and in your own defence, I have seen you dismiss/criticise many calls to have this or that person banned.

Well they also sell newspapers everyday. That's obviously not all that qualifies The Mirror.

Part of my issue is that everyone wants to play judge and jury now, in the sense that if they don't personally believe something, the author should be banned. People aren't qualified to be that dismissive.

If someone posts we are interested in Neymar, you will see others asking 'can we not ban him?', simply because they think it makes little sense to be interested in Neymar.

It would obviously depend on who the source is that's saying that about Neymar. If it's someone like Ducker, Ogden, Mitten et al it would obviously have more credibility than if it was a clickbait article from Tom Coast at Sport Witness citing a dodgy, vaguely unknown Spanish gossip roundup. That's why we have an OP, so we can at least eliminate the poor sources and even if journo isn't in the OP, its still a good idea for every poster to ask themselves whether its coming from a reputable journo before posting.

Very quiet on our front and frankly on everyones front. We need a DM, a striker and a wide attacker at least. I'd say once Ronaldo announces what hes doing we will start to see movement.

Fair enough. I've seen calls for the Independent's Cheif Football Writer to be banned, but I get the sentiment. Even the fabled Di Marzio was said to have decreased/ruined his credibility when he reported Morata was a bigger priority than Griezmann, simply because Joe Bloggs didn't believe it.

Ultimately, I guess the debate is about exactly where this imaginary line should be drawn, but I agree with the logic.

To be fair, this the best the thread can get, and has been up til now based on the excellent work of @Raoul and the other mods. The truth is that there are folks who can't take a critical view of tweets and can take this place into insanity. On the other hand, there are some who want to ban any source that's ever reported anything wrong ever. There was an article by a journalist, I think it was Taylor at end of his United beat, who basically said the clubs lie, the players lie, and the agents lie. They will all lie and deny what they say to journalists to protect their interests and images.

That's not a good post. At all. Comment on Darmian is ridiculous, and your framing of Valencia absurd, for a player who is currently the best RB in the league. Added to that you've skipped the bulk of the argument. Let's just quit while you're behind. Spare you any further punishment.
Valencia is not the best RB in the league. No chance he is better then Walker. I'd say Bellerin is better as well.

Did you watch Bellerin last year? He was terrible. Valencia has been at least equal to Walker the last 2 years.

Griezmann is obviously scum, and I for one wont support Pogba until he cuts ties with him.

Griezman made a mistake by trying to be too noble. Missed his chance. Do not believe we will go back in for him anymore.

Have been away from this place for a couple of weeks so can someone give me a very quick rundown on where we currently are with Fabinho?

I see Di Marzio has stated we've made a bid for him and he's edging closer to a move, but there still seems to be a real lack of belief this is genuine.

Is it because MEN continue to distance us from him?

Considering Di Marzios reputation on here I'd have thought if he linked us with him he would be fairly concrete but the atmosphere on here makes it seem we're not even remotely interested.
