Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Honestly, I could see us selling him to you guys if the right offer comes in. Conte probably hasn't forgiven him for what he did in January. Not like he has many options abroad with Atleti transfer banned, Real Madrid & Barca stacked in his position, and Bayern not needing a striker really. Plus, China just implemented that transfer tax on foreign players meaning Costa would cost one of them about £150m.

I doubt Jose has any interest in working with him again. If I thought Costa would perform I'd easily take him at Utd but frankly I'm 90% sure he and Mourinho would fall out again and he'd have another poor season

Costa's on the boarder of "pls don't sign an ass like him" and "okay he's worth it" for me. Still, doubt he's staying in England and even if he were, not like he'd likely play for Mourinho again.

Yeah, let's replace Jones with another sicknote.

Apparently nobody is good enough for us anymore judging by the responses. I really hate the whole "injury prone" thing too. When is someone really injury prone? Lindelof has had two full seasons at Benfica where he played most matches. De vrij has had three seasons at Lazio in which he was injured in one but played most matches in the other two. De Vrij actually played 31 matches this seasons, compared to the 38 Bailly played it's not bad at all. The truth is that De Vrij is better than Lindelof at the moment and has a more potential too. Not an outrageous price so i'd definitely buy him if possible.

Sorry if it's too munch discussion for this thread.

So Costas in the market. Would you take him if possible at all?
One of the best strikers in the world and best in the league IMO, we should try to get him he deserves every penny, better a lot better than Morata, Lukaku.

He spent the entire 2015/16 season out injured and was out 2-3 months this last season including a month out of the last two (the all-important run-in) with 5 separate injuries.

5 separate injuries inside two months must be the definition of injury prone.

Think transfer activity will speed up after internationals for all clubs. Looking forward to next season and hope we have a good as window as last year.

Zidane only considers Mbappé if Bale leaves . "Zidane understands that the Cristiano-Bale-Benzema-Mbappé ecosystem is impossible, as well as the simultaneous presence of these four players would also hurt another member of the squad for which Zizou bet strong: Marco Asensio."
"The arrival of Mbappé, always according to Zidane, would affect Bale more than Benzema because of the footballer qualities of the player from Wales, whom he does not see as a center forward, position for which he trusts Benzema fully ... and Cristiano Ronaldo"

Quite an interesting article on F365 today (albeit by United hater-in-chief Sarah Winterburn): http://www.football365.com/news/morata-belotti-just-go-big-and-flash-for-harry

Tl;dr United should go big for Harry Kane. And I have to say it's hard to disagree with. If we're fannying around considering spending the best part of £100million on Lukaku and the like, why not make an absolutely eye-watering bid for Kane?

People keep saying this, and I'm not a big Lukaku fan myself - but if he were English, there wouldn't be this narrative of Kane being a level or more above Lukaku. Both have similar scoring records, and Kane has some unanswered questions himself, notably about how he performed in the Euros and in the CL.

Both players are of a similar age and have proven they can score a lot of goals at PL level.

For me it has nothing to do with Kane being English. The same way I don't really like Higuain, I don't like Lukaku. I prefer Kane who is good in general play while also being a very good goalscorer.

I just don't get why folk are so concerned about what we spend on a player.

I want the club to get the players that Jose has asked for. The club will only pay what it can afford and if the selling club ask for more than we can afford then we'll move on to other targets.

I spent years watching us call ourselves the biggest and richest club in the world and then penny pinch on transfers.

We finally start doing what Madrid and Barcelona have been doing for decades and people start acting like accountants.

We should spend the money on the right players and not get fleeced by the selling club. If we sign Aubameyang for 70 million it's a good deal but if we buy Morata for 80 million or buy Perisic for 50 million it's a bad deal. I don't get this argument about Real Madrid players not getting into the starting 11 because they have other better players in the starting 11, if James and Morata were that good they would be starting the games for them. I know they would increase the quality in the squad but at the right price, we shouldn't get fleeced by Real Madrid. Barcelona and Real don't spend 50 million to sign a 28 year old winger who might be average or spend 80 to 90 million on a benchwarmer.

Nah this is bollocks. Kane is easily a level above even if their numbers were similar. Lukaku is merely a complete flat-track bully who more or less flatters to deceive against the big guns, whereas Kane puts up good numbers against nearly every top side.

That's not accounting for their overall game, where for me Lukaku only trumps Kane in athletiscm and physical presence. Kane is a far more technically-gifted striker.

Just because we get fleeced doesn't mean they aren't the right players. It is up to the manager to decide who is right for his team, not us.

I don't think Kane has this amazing all round game at all, personally. He does have a better touch than Lukaku, as do I.

When I think of Kane, I just think of a man who shoots every time he gets the ball within 30 yards. It's clear to me that he is stats driven, although there was one time in early May where I saw him pass the ball in the final third, so that's something. But no, he's far behind even the likes of Welbeck in terms of link play. He's a goalscorer. And plays for a far better team than Lukaku, probably pound for pound the best team in the PL actually.

Also, when making the point about flat-track bullying, I will again refer to Kane's England form, and his Spurs Euro form, which have been poor. He's looked totally out of his depth in the CL and even the EL quite often, as he did in the Euros before being dropped for Sturridge if I recall correctly.

I think the biggest barrier to signing Kane is that he's Spurs through and through and been with them since age 11. If he didn't have a particular allegiance to him then I'm sure the United glamour and potential to reach the next level would win him over, and that plus a massive bid might be enough. Can't see him rocking the boat though (certainly while Spurs are doing so well) so that idea's probably dead in the water...

I have the same opinion of Kane. Bit everybody tells me I am wrong. So I tend to keep quiet now

Been mentioned so often on the Caf as well. Can't see why this is even spoken of since:
1. Levy is a p*ick
2. Spurs won't sell him - regardless of the fee, if they can't replace him, why sell?
3. He likes Spurs, is very happy there and just doesn't want to move

So we can speculate all we want but this is like trying to get in a move for Ronaldo or Messi or Totti. Some players are just so wedded to their clubs that it's pointless to contemplate.

Next...

I disagree with this, I think Kane is aware of so much around him with his overall play. Just a bonus he can bang them in. He can flick it on, pass it round the corner, hold it up etc. I think Kane is world class already at 23. I remember when Spurs had him missing for a while and it showed. Would pay any fee they wanted to get him here

Agree. Kane needs to prove himself.

But on the same note, I do believe he would achieve a lot more by leaving Spurs. You could see him doing a Shearer/Le Tiss. A big fish in a small pond. How would he he react if he try to become a big fish in a big pond???

I agree with this view of Kane. He is simply a poacher not much else to his game. Nevertheless, poachers are important in football, especially those who are damn good. They can win you titles.

I think it all depends on the team and manager. If you set up a system that thrives on having a pure poacher, then that's who you need. In some other systems, a pure poacher may not be what you need to thrive.
