How great would it be if all of this was a massive troll on De Gea's part. He's never liked Real Madrid, always been an Atletico boy. This was all just to mess with them. Turns up to the presentation wearing an Atletico shirt, sticks two fingers up at them and flies back to Manny.

How could Real have proof of that if United were going to send the papers to the Federation and the LFP have confirmed it was too late?

Its real madrid, they're probably submitting their "proof" in a brown paper bag as we speak.

Balague on Sky saying it won't happen

"BALAGUE ON DE GEA

Right, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has been on Sky Sports News HQ a few minutes ago and he sounds pretty sure a deal will not be done, here's what he said:

"The news is the documentation was not done on time. David de Gea was at his girlfriend’s house waiting, Keylor Navas was waiting, everything was signed and sent to Manchester but the stories coming out of the Spanish media are that Manchester United sent the paperwork back at 12.01pm Spanish time, so past the deadline.

"Everything was agreed, there was a little bit of a battle of figures, but everybody was waiting in their places. The Bernabeu was full of people, but the documents signed by Real Madrid and Keylor Navas did not come back from Manchester United on time.

"The Spanish media are fuming and saying this is revenge for what happened with Sergio Ramos (not going to Old Trafford).

"There is no precedent for a deal to be done past the deadline. Fabio Coentrao was in the same situation a few years ago when he was going to potentially move to Manchester United.

"The documents did not arrive in time, Real Madrid asked for five minutes and the league said no, so there is no precedent for this to be overruled. I know in England if everything is agreed you can have an extension but that has never happened in Spain and is not expected to happen."

Real trying the Howard Nurse Method.

We will still have a major problem on our hands once the euphoria of getting one over Madrid has vanished. I can't see him paying for us again anyway - nose, spite and face come to mind. Plus, the impact on other players thinking of signing. Sorry guys, it might be a laugh tonight but it's unprofessional and will not look like such a good idea in a couple of months.

After the initial happiness have died down a bit, I guess they will find a way to trick this through..

He'll have a 28 day return period on that suit anyway. Should just be able to give him a straight refund.

So if everything is time stamped and it's confirmed that the LFP got the papers at 1 minute past 12 how exactly can Real get round that? Are they going to argue that the clocks at LFP are wrong?

Seems like they're clutching at straws but it's worth a try for them I suppose.

It's Madrid. They'll just bribe some official and call it an "football development fund" and that'll be that.

Madrid will likely never bother doing business with us again though which might not be a bad thing.

 What an absolute farce! I expect it'll be confirmed the paperwork went through on time though. It's in everyone's best interest that the transfer goes ahead.

Guess there's a potential issue here in that madrid could theoretically take de gea then try and bump up the price (or pull out of the deal) for navas...unless they're part of the same deal in which case surely all of the paperwork would need to be completed..? Can see this being resolved tomorrow once navas deal goes through and united agree that de gea was not contingent on navas...
