In my short time on the caf I have realized how tough it is for the club to make everyone happy with a signing. Every single signing has some sort of negative

If Martial is going to stay, go on to the next target. I'm hoping it's Fekir.

We'd be stupid to pay it for potential. We have a 21 year old who has been thrown in the deep end who should have been blended in. Memphis looks knackered. So lets throw a 19 year old in as well, with old man Rooney up front.

What we should be doing is mixing the best potential with season pros and continually looking at refreshing the squad so we have a good mix. People always go on about the "you never win anything with kids" but that team had Cantona, Hughes, Schmeichel, Bruce, Irwin, Robson and many other leaders/experienced pros too.

By letting our squad stagnate over the years we're without many great players in their prime, so we need both the finished articles and the players to replace them in a few years. In the absence of many options, buying potential is at least the first step towards getting back to being the dynasty that we were but it's a transition that may take years.

Unbelievable

We are linked with a nobody for a ridiculous fee, the deal is done and he's staying, all in the space of a few minutes.

And the Cafe laps up every word of it.

C'mon guys, get a grip

Nobody said a deal was done, just that we made a bid.

Haven't seen him that many times, but he's obviously got potential - but not €50m at this stage of his career - we need someone more established

I agree with, he has a great potential, he is a great 19 years old player but 50m is obviously to much. But I'm not worried about the price because he was the first name in the list of non transferable players alongside Bernardo Silva and Fabinho.

Ah I see how it works Guillem, cover your utter bollocks prediction of DDG joining Madrid in the last few hours of the transfer window from last week, by saying it didn't happen becaue Navas couldn't be persuaded to join that horrible, cold, rainy club from Northern England.....just admit you were wrong.

I don't think Bale even wants to come here I don't know why we obsess over him. Imagine if we made some huge offer and they accepted it and he just said thanks but I'll stay here. Go for someone realistic.

I know that he miss being the main man. I have read that his family is homesick as well.

Perez is typing out "transfers@realmadrid.es is out of the office until Wednesday 3 September, we will reply to your email as soon as possible on our return. For urgent queries please contact reception and ask for Flo. Lolzy"

This. Getting tiresome now the Bale link. Guy has never been nor is he now interested in playing for United.

And how would he be the main man when Rooney wants that too? I'm puzzled by footballers - it's a team sport so what is this crazy crap about being the 'main' man?
