Lacazette's overratedness here has reached Djibril Cisse at 19 back then on redcafe. A fast and nifty finisher, his ceiling is that of a very good player.

I'd rather go for super potential.

But at that price surely you expect some kind of instant result?

the president said he'd sell lacazette for 50 mil euros before he renewed his contract with lyon.

There is at least Kane, Morata, Martial, Lacazette, Berardi and Alcacer.
@JPRouve mentioned him in reply to me yesterday - so as far as I'm concerned that enables me to claim prior knowledge of the player before being seriously linked to us

Borussia Dortmund beat Hertha Berlin to top Bundesliga as Shinji Kagawa stars

Shinji... :(

I don't know anything about Martial. But it really doesn't bother me how much we spend. We've got money there to burn, if he's got the potential like people are claiming, then I'm all for it.

Baffles me when people talk about the money being spent, as though the club is going to ask the fans to chip in..

I think it would be nice if people just forgot the price for a moment, if he is good enough then the price is genuinely irrelevant for United

I don't like it when the fee is too big. Puts pressure on the player to perform. If Memphis was £50m there would be serious questions about him. The fact he was at a decent price makes people more understanding he is a young player in a new league and all that. The hefty fee was part of Di Maria's demise.

Although I do agree with you to some extent. When fans say ''Would have him for 15 million but 20 is too much" as though they are going to have to pay themselves the extra 5 million.

Rooney has about the same amount of goals as Martial when we signed him.

It's hardly the same though is it? Rooney was what, top scorer or something in a European championship? Henry too scored a decent no.of goals in 98 World Cup. It was clear they weren't just random players but talented youngsters ready to step up. I'm sorry to be judgemental but This guy seems to be a nobody in comparison. Though full disclosure I have never seen him play.

Have people actually watched him play? He's coming from the piss easy French league, and with a hefty price tag. Just look at Depay, and you can see that he's struggling to cope with the league. I really wouldn't want us to spend so much on money on him, unless we're 100% confident he'll come good.

Apparantley Monaco don't wanna sell him this summer....Over to the Charlie Austin thread!

Lots of decent players have come from that piss easy league in the past few years and have done well in the premier league.

Watching the PSG vs Monaco game right now. Martial looks extremely quick and has good technique, but he's hardly getting the ball so it isn't the best game to judge. PSG totally dominating.

50 million or not, i'd take him. We need a striker and i'd rather we splashed 50 mil on him than panic buying Pato or Charlie Austin..

Yeh, the 2nd part of your post is more the thing that I find funny.

I get the pressure element of it, and agree with you 100%.

I think Charlie Austin would be a better option than Chicharito to be honest.

Chica just doesn't look like the same player that he was under Ferguson.

Austin has proved he can score goals in this league, in an awful team. Obviously he wouldn't be my first choice, but I don't think he'd be bad at all.

Thats the problem, not him. He is well known as one of the best young talents in football. He has also played in the UCL too.
Anyway tbh I don't think, if we sign him, that he will be the only attacker brought in anyway.
