Hasn't Cavani been among the top 10 strikers for awhile now?

Given our current options someone who gets a goal every other game at the highest level and is physically suited to this league seems like a great addition.

He's one of those strikers that the record books show scores sh!tloads of goals, but who seemingly no one has ever seen have a good game

With Ibras PSG career seemingly ending, would PSG really seek Cavani this window. Can't see it myself

Hopefully DDG will still be our no.1 by the end of the window

I'd rather he go. Regardless, its potential £25m-£30+m down the drain. If Real offer £30m we should take it. The point has been made all summer. Real get it now.

I'd be concerned at that, as they've already rejected £22m, so it'd be £25-30m type fee, which for someone like him is sickening.
To be fair, I think this late in the window if LVG feels someone can add something to us this season an extra 5 million won't matter. And I agree with that stance. But yeah, obviously it can't just be anyone eating up wages.

Resigned to the fact we're done in this window. We'll save the money for a splurge next summer on Bale or Kane.

Annoyingly, that is what was meant to happen this summer.

Generally, Im delighted with LVG's transfer strategy and I think he has done an amazing job at completely revamping the squad in 12 months. He had mad many tough decisions without getting lost in sentiment or nepotism and the vast majority of his signings have been reasonable priced at fit the requirements of the club.

But, its a real shame that both Falcao or Di Maria were massive failures and so the team still lacks a genuine maverick game changer. In many ways, the squad feels like SAF's pre Cantona squad - it needs one more attacking magician who has supreme ability, confidence and aura. And I hoped that LVG would get him this year so we could genuinely feast on the top table again.

It seems the club have tried their utmost to achieve this with rumours of Ronaldo, Bale, Muller, even Neymar. But so far we have not been able to pull it off. In my opinion, until we get such a player, we will remain just short of genuine contenders for the Premier and European championships.

 Know what you mean.
I think the bar that Messi and Ronaldo has set is so high that players like Cavani will never get recognition they deserve, but if the above players never existed players like Cavani would be drooled over.

It's going to be Kane, Lewandowski, Bale or Mueller , likelihood in that order, preference in the reverse order:angel:

if we get any of those 4 in the next few days, the absolute tight arse known as Sandikan will shell out on a shirt with the name on.

Now that's how unlikely we're talking!

I actually agree. A unmotivated De Gea isn't worth £25m+ down the drain for a season. I know we're loaded but we're not that loaded. Just sell him.

DDG is not 1.93. He is around 1.90. He is about as tall as Carrick who is 1.88 i think

Are you sure? I think he's 1.90.3333m.

I think I got his height off MU website but I can't remember.

When he says a "new number 9" he's implying a top striker, not just some chump like Berahino.
And he also says there's a surprise exit, which I wouldn't think De Gea or Evans would be[/QUOTE]

He's not really implying anything about the quality. He's just saying we will sign someone to wear the no9 shirt if what he's heard is correct, nothing more, nothing less.

Wait how many defenders we have left? Rojo,Mike,Faceoff,Blind(i guess),McNair thats all, right? (if Evans/Blackett join WBA/Celtic)

Its going to be Kane isnt it?

Spurs signing Son today as his replacement.

Overpaying for Kane who seems to be shooting blanks this season too.

Kane would be a good buy. People are that sick of English players being over-hyped they just see him as another one who isn't that good. His goal tally last year shows what a quality finisher he is.

However, I'd wait a year to buy him...especially since the price tag we'd end up paying this week if we signed him would be a huge burden.

The team is crying out for a Falcao like gamble IMO, I still don't understand why we didn't go in hard for Danny Ings.

People are very naive if they think that Levy is going to sell Kane to us. He'd do it only for an absolutely stupid offer from us. Won't happen.

Even if we sign Kane, he is still one for the future. I don't think he can enter the club and immediately elevate it to a higher level.

Can't see why any club would sell a big player now, I would be really pissed if we sell DDG now and similarly I would be shocked if any big club sold a top class player in the last 3 days.

Just seen an interesting article stating how England could lose its fourth place in the Champions League, with Italy closing in. I'd hope we strengthen before the window shuts and cement third place or higher, otherwise we could find ourselves (assuming we finish fourth) in the EL sooner rather than later.

A shite season in Europe this year for English clubs and that could very well happen. But this is the transfers/twitter thread mate, how is that relevant?

Maybe it's not a big player. I wouldn't mind someone who can perform decently for the first team but has huge potential.

Yeah exactly my point, I'm not really sure where the hate comes from tbh, wherever he goes he scores goals and plenty of them, if he came to United I'd be in no doubt he could be the 20 goal a season player we are missing.

I'm certain all the people that hate him now would be eating their words after he played a few matches. He's very much an lvg type player too. He would fit out system.

General transfer discussion as opposed to a specific transfer. Just stating how I wish we would sign somebody soon.

I've been watching him play regularly for PSG in Ligue 1 for 2 years and I still haven't seen him play well, I don't see all the matches and generally miss the matches when he scores a hat-trick against Evian or a brace against Guingamp, seems to score in patches

It has more to do with him being utter shite when matches become more important for his team. I have seen CL matches in which he is crap when he could have made a difference with timely goals.
