We did too, when we made a silly joint bid for Baines/Fellaini.I think a large part of this is the way Mourinho and Chelsea have gone about publicly courting the player. It's clearly rubbed Everton up the wrong way.

You have a TV which you bought for 20 pounds. You sell it for 15 because you don't like it and buy another TV and and coffee machine for 30. The new TV is nothing special but you like it more and you definitely like your coffee machine. Now, have you spent 50 all together or 15?
Wait new TV deal hits this season or next? If it hits this season, that might be one of reasons why they declined offers this summer.
This is how it should be done!!
3 years on his contract. Ball is in Everton's court. He has to play well otherwise his career will stall.Well no not really because he's just gonna play shit for the entire year as he doesn't want to be there.

He does that and he won't get a move to a team like Chelsea next summer. Everton hold all the cards.Well no not really because he's just gonna play shit for the entire year as he doesn't want to be there.
Yeah, he came out saying it's unfair or something didn't he?Schneiderlin did almost all he could last summer to force a move to Tottenham IIRC. Southampton held firm and he had probably his best season there and now he is at Manchester United.
But possibly he and the club quietly agreed he would be sold to whoever came in for him the next season. So he could happily go about his football in the knowledge he would eventually be leaving for a bigger club. The deal with United happened very smoothly. No fuss at all. It certainly smells to me of a private agreement with the player.Yeah, he came out saying it's unfair or something didn't he?
But yeah, fair play to him, he went on and had an awesome season and got a bigger move in return.
He won't be if he's trying to get into the England squad for the Euro's next season.Well no not really because he's just gonna play shit for the entire year as he doesn't want to be there.
You mean 3 years which I dealt he will as that will feck up his career especially with the Euro's coming around.Well no not really because he's just gonna play shit for the entire year as he doesn't want to be there.
Good. Teams shouldn't be getting bullied into selling their players. It's different if they want to sell them. The new TV deals mean none of the Premier League clubs need to just accept it when a bigger club comes in for a player.
Well no not really because he's just gonna play shit for the entire year as he doesn't want to be there.
well at least we'll beat wolfsburg now.
seems a bit insane if they'll really reject an incredible £40m for Stones?!
Are they mental?
Aye, tbh, the main deal with it is just forfeiting the transfer bonuses and percentages. Not purely "I want the feck out", as much as "yeah, if you let me go as I want to, I'll give up that million on my contract".Putting in a transfer request isn't as black and white as 'not wanting to be at a club'. If he didn't want to be here i highly doubt he'd have been big enough to play last night a day after putting in the request.
How is that 40m structured though? Might be so much in clauses, bonuses, options and such that Everton only make out with a fraction short term.seems a bit insane if they'll really reject an incredible £40m for Stones?!
Are they mental?
It would be nice to see a positive United attacking buy tweet!
Fee is utterly ridiculous.
