Really don't think it reflect badly on our club mate. The reason is easy and simple; we are the most famous club in the world, people will never stop having a opinion about us, media will write about us more than any other clubs ( fact and fiction ) and we will be that club who has most linked players to us.

Of course, some people believe everything the media writes, but most of us don't. The difference between these two stances, is that some of us don't believe the media, but get mad regardless when the transfer don't happen. Yes you could say that this reflects badly on us, but people with a normal IQ and who knows that media just makes up stories to sell newspapers and clicks, don't bother to much in the long run.

Read the article, it's all BILD's speculation. They claim that we're probably in for him because we've missed out on Pedro, Müller can't be obtained from FCB, Neymar's a no-go so we surely want KDB now due to his talent and blah blah blah. They still claim that it's City in pole position offering 20 mln per year salary for 6 years long contract and 80 mln for Wolfsburg but he might as well go to Bayern next year.

So yea, they don't know shit.

wasn't the story dropped by a reliable german source, not just some speculation from bild.

Yesterday the man who was one of the first to report BFS to us(christian ortlepp) claimed it as an exclusive that united were in for KDB ,Maybe this is the reason there is no deal with city as of yet. the article also says that denials in english press are to save face in the scenario that United dont get him. The woodward "we were never interested in him" trick is being used as Man city are still favourites.

The article above is all speculations for my liking, gathering some info alltogether. Not sure where the United link started as I'm a bit off with all the transfer news lately.

Took a quick glance at SPORT1's article from Ortlepp, so basicaly what BILD says is somewhat a rehash from Ortlepp's story, he claims that we've entered the race, willing to offer any kind of money as we've failed with Pedro and Müller but it's still City that's the most likely candidate.
 
Even if that dude & Bild were the first to report BFS to United, on the whole, Bild are pretty shit & get a hell of a lot wrong.

Ortlepp giving his name to the article is the only reason i have posted the tweet, The only thing that is making me think is that city have been after him all summer and wolfsburg have admitted they will sell for right money but the deal has not been made. Maybe another club? Maybe city are confident in the way they are playing and are not ready to pay up? They have already signed 2 players and spent in excess of 100 million euros. Its the hope that kills i guess? I like KDB it would be a shame to see him play for city.

Spanish clubs seldom use the formal release clause process, because of certain things that can go wrong (for example if the buying or selling club owe money to the tax office, the tax office can claim the money en route) but there is an actual legal mechanism in place for forced transfers.

That's got nothing to do with a club making it easy though, and of course it relies completely on the player demanding his release and (in effect) entering a new contract with the buying club without the selling club even giving him permission to negotiate.

Not for german news, sport1 are also backing the same story and they're fairly reliable for german news also.

It could be his agent making up interest to further pressure city to bump up their offer but I doubt people inside bild offices one day thought "feck it" and printed the story like some of you on here are implying.

The story was broken by Ortlepp from Sport1 though. He was early on Bastian news too. Not saying he's right at all though. Still think it could be a plant from Wolfsburg to get citeh to pay up.
 
So yeah, a week left of the window. I'm truly over it now. The sick thing is it won't stop me getting excited over the next summer window.

In fairness, Woodward/LvG said they wanted the majority of the deals done before USA and they delivered. I just wish we could have all our business done before the friendlies for once. One more summer of rehauling then maybe in two years we only need fine tuning? Oh, i hope so.

I would think we would be interested at Bild are a reliable paper and we need a marquee signing. Considering Mourinho has Pedro and is making it work with him when we didn't want him, turn the tables and get KDB and make him work in the EPL when Mourinho couldn't.
 
I don't think KdB is LvG's player at all. He's more like modern 10, not a rapid fast 2nd striker LvG looking for.

May be there's real interest, maybe Wolfsburg just make thing up to pressure other buyer.

I think he is very creative and gets many assists. That along with loosing ADM would probably make him someone LVG would look at. Not to mention he can also play RW, and uses the ball well too.
I don't think we're in for him at that price though, but it wouldn't suprise me that we had considered him.

I think they are learning, just mention Manchester United and a transfer will move at a rapid pace. We are every clubs kick up the transfer arse.

Di Marzio claims that we're now after Ezequiel Garay and negotiations have already begun. Honestly, that would be disappointing if we've given up on Stones. Garay isn't exactly young and won't improve as he gets older.

He's a very good CB IMO. Would have taken him in a heartbeat. Very good signing for you, if true. Stones value won't raise until next summer anyway.

Yeah, I know he is (or was, I haven't seen a minute of him since he went to Russia) good, but Stones just ticks every box for the CB that we should be after.

I think Stones will be even harder to acquire next summer when that new TV money kicks in. Not only will Everton be able to demand even more for him, but other clubs (like United) will be competing for him too.

I don't know why we're not after him. He's better than everyone we've got there except Smalling imo.

Still 28 so i reckon you can get a solid 4 years out of him. Solid defender and would adapt to the PL easily.

Yes, but from what I understand he's pretty similar to our current CB's. His positioning and reading of the game is good but he lacks pace and mobility.

The appeal of Stones besides the fact that he's English and so young is that he's highly mobile, quick, and brilliant on the ball. Totally different than Terry and Cahill.
