I will say this though about this Neymar madness, it does in some strange way make sense for us to try such an audacious move and for him to be open to it. We're desperate to show we can compete for the top tier players and in Neymar's case he'll always be in Messi's shadow for as long as Messi's at Barcelona. Though, it's not happening

Even @Damien is in muppet mode

Don't do this to yourself lads, you're in for inevitable disappointment

The player doesn't need to be for sale if we are paying his release clause

The problem would be getting him to leave a dominant Barca for a pretty shiity United atm. To be fair though... must not get drawn in.... Neymar seems like the kind of cocky prick who would make the move so he'd be the most expensive player in history.

This is not going to end well. I fear a mass muppet suicide when it all goes wrong. For now though, I plan to join in.

Nah this isn't like pedro,

If you believe that this is possible then you're stupid. I mean no solid links and a hilarious aspect.

The thing I don't really get about all this Neymar stuff is why he would want to leave. He's a first team player in arguably the best team in Europe and there doesn't seem to be any genuine competition for his place.

Interesting that Wenger said recently that with all the money the big clubs have and a shortage of world class strikers means its not easy signing strikers even if you have the cash. So its not completely mad to think that united might look to activate a buy ouy clause rather than negotiate with clubs who dont need to sell. Given our sales this season, the freeing up of considerable wages and the Adidas deal I dont think 140 mil is unthinkable either, I am sure in the next 3 or 4 years some club is going to spend that kind of money.

Still a big jump to think that Neymar himself would move.

Agreed, if one believes his (especially after Ramos & Alves) then that is true gullibility.

It just seems so utterly pointless, everyone knows we're rich and could probably buy anyone, but it generally only works if the bloke wants to come to us and there's literally no chance Neymar does!

Can anyone remember people going absolutely mad in England at "United buying the league" when we bid £7 million for Andy Cole? My God, how times have changed eh?

Every world class footballer has massive egos though. I reckon we could get him, but to do we we'd hve to break the football wages structure on him, thus making him be the most expensive player in the world, the main man at a giant club and the highest paid player in the world. That is an ego driven package if there ever was one. That's the only way you get players like Neymar. You pretty much have to go all in or go home. Because you simply dont buy the likes of him just by putting a bid in and negotiating with him for months like Harry Kane. You have to pretty much go for it on the money front.

Aye and even worse Fredos are 30p now, 30p!!!

The football world is a bit mental these days, I have not the slightest inclination to believe the Neymar story but the fact no one believes it probably means it's true

He will become their best paid player eventually. I think he can wait a few years.

He could decide he wanted to do that, or he could decide he wants to maximise his earnings as soon as possible?

So we met the release clause and ghot rejected... is that even possible?

Is it just me or forum got broken for 10 min or so? Also can we put RedCafe twitter account on ban list please? kidding

That's different. Every single Brazilian knew he had to go to Europe eventually.

He would be the star man at United instead of being a support cast to Messi. We could offer him a deal that Barca would find very hard to match.

Can't see it happening this window but if Woody is hell bent on trying to get the biggest names in football and is willing to break the world transfer record to do it then this potential deal can happen.

Did you read Sid Lowe's article?

Basically, it's a killer, a transfer muppet killer that is.

Barcelona would sell Neymar only if they want to. The buy out clause holds only for Spanish clubs and even Spanish clubs could not buy Neymar for 190 mil Eur.

He didn't need to write a complete article to tell us that this isn't happening

It's an old article explaining how the release clauses work. Barca are not forced to sell by any means if we "activate" Neymar's clause.

If that was the case, he would've gone to Madrid who offered more than Barcelona did.

He will eventually become the star man of Barcelona. Judging by all his comments about Messi, he doesn't mind not being the team's absolute star. If Barca come even close to a deal that Woody would offer, he will choose to stay.

Snap out of it, guys.
