Every player in the world has a price. It's bs to say otherwise.

For example bayern would certainly convene a board meeting should an offer of 120 million euros be put on the table for Muller
But what else could Rumenigge have said? He's obviously not being literal, just figuratively saying that Muller is indispensable to the team.

Perfect response imo

How about "there have been enquiries regarding Muller but we have informed all parties that we have absolutely no interest in selling. He is fundamental to our team"

Don't think that there is any chance that they'll sell Muller for that much money. It is very late in transfer window to get an adequate replacement. They could probably try De Bruyne or Reus for 80m or so, but no guarantee that they will get them and that they will be as good as Muller. Bayern is a fan-owned club and even with 120m they won't be able to make the team stronger than it is after they'll sell Muller.

They would obviously consider it, but I doubt that they'll sell him for any price that isn't totally ridiculous. They have 450m or so revenue and pay less than half of it in wages. They don't need the money.

my point really was that every player has a price, its just a matter of finding it

Don't know about that. If the player is happy and the club financially secure, why sell? If Ronaldo really wanted to stay with us, I don't think we would have agreed to sell no matter the price.

Obviously that is true. But when the price is unrealistic, it is basically no price at all.

For example 250m pounds (350m euros) would likely be enough to get Messi, but no-one is able to pay near it which essentially makes Messi priceless.

Just to play Devils advocate, I'm sure had we been offered something north of £200m by some oil rich club we'd have accepted it.

Even if SAF made it clear he didn't want to sell and Ronaldo made it clear didn't really want to leave? The potential instability caused by going over the manager's head and the fan reaction to selling your best player who didn't want to leave in the first place wouldn't make it worthwhile. It's similar to when Inter offered a blank cheque for Scholes.

That is not Killer-Kalle.

Killer-Kalle is either speaking figuratively of the flighing duck or telling of the stubborness of van Gaal. At the end he just tells that Müller is not for sale. It is not only about the player himself but about the next seasons on and off the pitch. Müller already was the main face the recent two years and the team speaker and with Basti gone and Lahm nearly the end of his career - and no other charismatic bavarian player in the pipeline - he is very important to all kind of strategic plans.

Yes, probably everything has a price. But - the value Müller has for Bayern he just cannot have for any other club because it is about identity, too. His price for sure is too high for any other football club.

every player has a price, but I imagine the price of Thomas will be something which won't bother clubs to look at

A blank cheque is a figure of speech, obviously Inter didn't literally give us one. They probably just offered an astronomical figure for Scholes (which £80m was at the time we sold Ronaldo). And yes, even if SAF and Ronaldo both wanted to stay, I'm sure if someone offered us a certain amount we'd have accepted. If we'd have got £500m then we could ensure success for the club long after Ronaldo retires.

When people say players are priceless or unbuyable its more that the sum it would take is just too high. Messi is worth more than £150m to Barca, he's not worth more than £1bn. Its a pointless argument really but every player does have a price.

This market is being very disappointing so far.I expected some top transfers but at present the only real option seems to be De Bruyne

Mueller's worth (to Bayern) can't really be measured in money, even if we're talking ~120m euros. He's the hero United deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So you'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not your hero. He's a goalscorer, an assist-machine. A raumdeuter.

Nobody is making a move in the chess game that Real Madrid and Manchester United are playing over David de Gea. The clock is ticking and the Bernabéu club thinks exactly what it was thinking a week ago: "Time plays in our favour".

Well if your goal isn't to beat Barca, then your goal makes sense.

We value our players by what difference they can make in our title hunt, Real by how much money they can save.
Now someone please tell me which behaviour would be more appropriate for a really big club?

And would LvG rush out and inform Warren which player we intend to sign ?

Also there's a very good chance that he's just some random account with many followers who decided to delete all their tweets, then change his profile to look like Warren Joyces.

Reiterates how we want to pay in instalments and not a one off fee, as he wants to leave.

I really can't see that, tbh.

We want to pay by installments or we won't buy him!
So don't buy him them. :p

I just don't believe we are making such a meal & a big deal over what is, these days in football, not a huge sum of money. Just pay the fecking money & buy him, be done with it!

This is why I don't think this is ever going to happen. We didn't piss about with any of our other transfers, why should this be any different?

If Barcelona are actually asking for a single payment, it is them who are asking for something unbelievable. Even PSG pre-FFP used to pay with installments.
We need to remember that clubs earn their money throughout the season, they pay with installment mostly because they don't have a lot of liquidity.
