That's a sports decision not an economical one, because economically that's a disastrous deal.

But I perfectly understand it.

"Economically disastrous" as you say JP, would have been us missing out on Champions League this season.

Dave saved our bacon on so many occasions last season - with him playin behind a defence that was a shambles for much of the season (we still havent bought a top-class CB either, so that department hasnt improved as a whole) - it makes perfect sense to keep him for 1 more season & not be bullied & made to look like lesser club than Real. We can spend the year finding the right replacement too.

Hypothetical situation / worst-case scenrio here: We could get a brand spanking new Keeper & he has a feckin nightmare season. So we could quite possibly switch between 2-3 Keepers to find the right one & have an injury crisis at the back again, thus leading to the back 5 to be all over the shop because they're not a settled unit.

It's a sporting decision to keep hold of him for another season & that leads to massive economic potential if we have a successful season.

It's a win-win situation for United to keep him & pass up on a measly €25m that Real only want to pay. He's worth twice that.

€25m will seem like a drop in the ocean if we sell DDG for that amount & the above scenario occurs with a new Keeper & an injury-crisis / disruption at the back again. Jones is already out for 3 weeks & the season hadnt even started ffs. Havin a top-class dependable keeper is a must with the historically crock CB's we have.

We're covering ourselves by keeping him & the financial benefits will far out-way passing up on €25m. It's either a world-record fee or f*ck off

Indeed, I know people tend to think that this sort of thing doesn't happen, and of course, we don't know that the reports are correct, but if he has a low £22m buyout agreement and we're still haggling, then potentially another club could show they value him more, or his Barca buddies could convince him to stay.

How do you know it's us who are waiting and not Pedro or Barca? Maybe Pedro wanted a last competitive trophy. Or maybe Barca wanted him to stay so that they have more chance that try can win the sextuple. Pedro is leaving because he is upset with his lack of playing time.8 don't think Any player would be able to convince him to stay.

Didn't people say the same for Schneiderlin and Darmian too? That we were not paying the asking price and playing around? Did we not get them?

COPE were the ones that said Ramos will extend tomorrow. Now they've shifted the date again. Lulz

Maybe the change in date is something to do with the extra 2M Euros wages they've added to the reported contract since the last time they reported it...
