I would be surprised if the club let De Gea leave, it seems LvG has total control of the football and he is not one to take such a big risk, David De Gea was our best player last season, I bet the manager would rather he stay for another season due to the lack of options.
For all we know he was fully aware we weren't going to sign Ramos but we played it out because it looks like to De Gea we tried to do a fair deal but Madrid weren't interested. Perhaps this is enough to convince De Gea to focus and be amazing this season again.

You're aware that Valdez was the cry baby who didn't follow the managers instructions? This is after we payed him, gave him coaching and recovery facilities, etc when his deal with Monaco fell apart because they didn't want an injured keeper
