The delay has nothing to do with United being frugal, but Barcelona unwillingness to sell soon. And he doesn't have a 30m clause but a 30m gentlemen agreement.
I think we are trying to be a bit frugal though. Everything I've read so far suggests we want to pay €24-26m + add ons. I have no issue with this. We get criticised when we overspend and criticised when we try to pay less. I half wonder if Barcelona are trying to get us to cough up. The delay until after the supercup is hardly a hinderance though mind.
