Likelihood of new signings according to me:

Pedro - 65%
CB - 30%
I'd say Pedro is a bit higher. I'd go as far to say 80%. Seems like a deal we could get done fairly easy if we really want him.

30% on the centre half front is spot on, though.

All this about us being delayed in signing Pedro until after the European Super Cup... Thats this tuesday, right?

Like, Tomorrow. Hardly a delay is it.

We've needed a forward and a defender since the start of the transfer window. I dont see why the Spurs performance would suddenly spring a lightbulb above Van Gaal's head. If we are going to challenge this year, we needed a few more signings.

Pacey striker (Dunno who...)
CB to play alongside Smalling (Ramos/Otamendi)

If DDG leaves, a new #1 with Romero as backup (Lloris/Oblak)

We signed a load of players late on last year. Wouldnt blow me away if Van Gaal and Woody cant help themselves in these next couple of weeks.

But he does specifically mention our right aided defenders and then says we should only sign if the new player is better than what we've got there. So is he talking about RCB or CB? And I know that's a very picky thing to pick up on but LVG is very picky in that way, LCB and RCB etc.

Surely he should be saying about our left sided centre backs and how we will sign someone if they are better than our current LCBs?
could be he's using our RCBs as a way out of saying too much since he seems to rate all 3 of them highly, whereas on the left we have Rojo (not fit), Evans (unreliable, probably on the way out), Blackett (too young, inexperienced) and a makeshift LCB in Blind, who hopefully won't be playing that position any more.

Although personally I don't think you have to seperate the two...for example Jones and Smalling, while both being regarded as RCBs, showed us a couple of times towards the end of last season that their partnership has the potential to become a solid one.
Then again I'm not saying a top class CB wouldn't be one of the first things on my wishlist.

LvG said 2 more areas to be strengthened. If I had to choose the two priorities, it would be CB and ST imo.
could be, personaly I agree with you. but LvG's probably going with Pedro and a CB. He mentioned several times he needs fast wingers or something along those lines and since he seems very direct in interviews I'll take his word. Seems to be content to rely mostly on Rooney and Wilson/(possibly)Hernandez to get minutes here and there.

No No

People that saw Cavani for Napoli know how frighteningly good he was, on par with any striker in the world if you make him the main man in the team. He's that kind of player, has to be the star man in the team and PSG and Uruguay haven't been able to offer him that due to Zlatan and Suarez.

He has everything to be the star at United but the biggest problem is can he play with Rooney or not.
That was years ago..I dont think we should be signing players on their form they showed seasons for two completely setups..You judge him on what he has produced now, I just think the press have him as a default target , and there is nothing really in this...He has looked very poor in those perfomances Ive mentioned, and its not like he will be the main star here...especially with our 1 striker formation.

A new defender....to replace Smalling.

feck. Me.
I'm really trying to be positive, but LVG just breaks the spirit in me...Why would we sign someone to drop our best defnder, instead of complimenting him? And LVG usually does what he says, just like the formation against Barca playing against spurs, so this isnt mind games or anything like that..

This. I just don't get it, why mention right sided defenders, when our left side is worse. Unless he means there no left footed CB's who are good enough and avalible, so someone has to be better than Smalling so he can play on the left side even if right footed.

With Smalling it's really a strange case. The best CB we have and he is actually very good, he is third in the line when it comes to captaincy but his place still doesn't look safe.... What is wrong with us?

I dont think he would just drop Smalling even if we get a new CB. He didnt have a problem with playing 2 right sided CBs last season even when Rojo was available. So maybe it's a bolded part that's true.

I really don't think LvG would be stupid enough to think we can go from 4th place to a title winning team with just the signings we have made. He potentially has just two years remaining in football, if he wants to win it then we need two or three more top players. The bastard is crazy, but not THAT crazy.

to make it clear. we struggled for goals last season.

What did we do? We got rid of RVP, Falcao, Di Maria, Nani and brought back Hernandez. Addtion: unproven youngster.
So what should we have done, kept the players who struggled for goals?
