Had a decent first two games for Southampton and then disappeared into nothingness.

That sums up just about his whole carreer. Welcome back to the kindergarten of leagues Eljero.

Massive fixtures, whatever team we get. To be fair, if we can't beat any of those teams over two legs we don't deserve to be in the CL anyway.
just think about how scared those teams' fans must be of getting United in the draw :D

Pressure is on us though, a huge embarrassment if we fail to get through
that's true. And although I'd like to avoid Monaco, Lazio and Fenerbahce, I just can't help but feel confident we'll go through. Not in the sense of being arogant, but by all acounts we have the best chance of going through as it stands.

fenerbahce got knocked out didn't they?

We will play either CSKA, Lazio, Brugge, Monaco or Rapid Vienna.

Would be hilarious if city got a cb and we didn't.

Really? City have 3 CB's in their entire squad (two of whom are Demichelis and Mangala) and we have 6. Not that surprising.
I do agree that we need a top CB though.

Who happens to be a very good player

Was a very good player but I was far from convinced by him last season.
They'll get no credit on here but both Jones and Smalling were considerably better than Demichelis last year.

I think it was more to do with Kompany running around like a headless chicken last year, Demichelis doesn't have pace and he knows it and plays to his strengths. When Kompany goes walk abouts, there's not a lot he can do to stop a player running at him.

We'll get Brugge. I don't know how we ended up with Monaco and lazio. These group stages getting harder.

Maybe, but he also had a nightmare alongside Mangala against QPR. Even if we do say Kompany was the weak link, the point remains that without reinforcement, City will still be left with him and Demichelis's lack of pace for the season. Remember he'll be 35 this season.

Yeah but that's also because Mangala is way too exciteable for a CB as well. It looks great when theyre charging around and winning the ball, riding tackles. When mistakes come from it, they're usually costly. I totally agree with you, without re-inforcing, they don't have a good CB pairing; unless Mangala suddenly comes out of nowhere to be decent.

I've got more faith in Blind than that happening.

Why is it that so many places (papers, websites, Skysport News etc), are saying that we payed £30m for Depay?

And, wasn't the final price for di Maria £47.4m (inc.£3m for tapping up our player)?
Depay was 19.25m + 3m and something in bonuses. So, adding bonuses it is something like 22.5m or so, 31m euros. The Times changed the currency from euro to pound and then forgot to fix it.

Who cares what the media thinks we paid.

It goes along with their current narrative that we're throwing money around to solve our problems and that's never going to change. We went from being a club that's too stingy to spend thanks to our greedy owners to a club with deep pockets who will overpay for every player we want to sign

Wasn't there some quote as well from the PSV chairman saying they could only dream of getting £31m?

Yep, Brands from PSV laughed at that story. If only PSV got £31m for him.. But they had to settle for the record transfer fee of 32m Euro in the Eredivisie sadly.

But @GlastonSpur has confirmed the 31 million pounds plus 15 million pounds fee to depay's agent. I know who I rather believe.

You wouldn't have the source would ya? Just want to through it at my mate when he tells me they got Firmino for less.

4. Kompany, Mangala, Demichelis and Denayer.
