It doesn't make sense for me if Mata is not in the team. He's the only creative player we have left now that ADM is going!

He'll get his fair share of games with Europe and the amount of injuries we get. Like a lot of players this season, he'll need to take his chance. Starting Saturday hopefully when I imagine he will start wide right.

The bitterness and red faced anger towards Di Maria and PSG is beyond comical. Keep it up, it makes me laugh. The club has seen its far share of wrong'uns, Di Maria just doesn't come anywhere close to matching them, and yet you'd think he was the spawn of satan. I get the disappointment, but I'm already over it and moved on, pretty easy when a player has such a little impact like he did.
Getting that caught up about any player is weird, but he has no one to blame but himself for any criticism he gets. IMO he wanted the PSG move last summer and would have gone there but for FFP. He arrived, played a bit while the sun was shining and then basically fecked it off for the rest of the season. He said he wanted to stay, then promptly fecked off to PSG at the first opportunity - and, if rumours are to be believed, refused to attend the summer tour along the way. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he parked himself here for the season, knowing he'd be out the door the following summer. He's been a bit of a shithouse, but then so are most footballers. It's why we're all basically idiots for (occasionally) believing in this bunch of dickwits.

Could see us lining up like this
Schweiny/Carrick------Schneidy
--------------Mata------------
Pedro------------------Memphis
-------------Rooney-----------

No idea if that would work or not, but knowing Van Gaal he's one to take a punt on something like this. A lot of talent in our team, its just whether they can all play in the same lineup.

think most would say it looks very workable. Puts him in his best position, and where not even that long ago he was one of the best in the league. With greater mobility of Schneiderlin behind him and pace both sides out wide , why not, certainly in the home games v non big teams.

I'd prefer Herrera in there in a lot of games though.

We shouldn't include Pedro in line ups though, have a feeling that's gonna bore on for a fair while longer yet. He won't be signed by Saturday for certain.

That's how a normal manager would line up alright. If SAF had that team we'd kill the league....

Interesting that Van Gaal seems Memphis as part of the front 3 after playing him in midfield all summer. There might be hope for the Mata-Herrera fans instead of a suicide watch.

Hit the nail on the head.

There are very few players left who have associations with clubs for the sentimental reasons we wish them to. Aren't we all looking for the good life? An easy life? Earn some money and have fun, right? Footballers are no different. It's about the money and enjoyment, not much more.

You are his mum. You just are. Say hi to Angel from his fans on Redcafe! Ta.

Nah, if its not apparent, I've been a huge di Maria fan for quite a long time.

Besides, if everyone had the same opinions, this place would be pointless. Just a bunch of "this" posts in reply to others.

That line up is the dream. Exactly what i want to see.

Mata on the bench replace by Herrera. Too slow for midfield.

Fair enough. Thankfully you're not as obsessive as that Kagawa fan, Tevez's Mum and the legions of Ronaldo fans who frequent the football forum.

Let's not pretend SAF didn't cause outrage playing some players out of positions or insisting to include players that infuriated the caf just as much. Just google ''alex ferguson tinkering'' or have a look back in older (matchday)threads here.

These snide remarks fired at LvG on the caf, fecking hell, they are in every thread. So far the caf is doing a Di Maria and noone has had the bollocks yet to make an LvG OUT topic, but a draw vs Spurs and it will begin.

Pedro and Memphis are new to the league, I'd be surprised to see them both starting every week from the off (same for Darmian and Schweinsteinger). Mata should get plenty of games.

We'll have a few of those (LVG out) threads in a few months.

Herrera on the bench. Not as creative or technical. The team revolves around that tip position. Herrera isn't creative enough.

Herrera got a decent amount of assists and goals for a non creative player. Mata doesn't even create a lot either, gets a lot of goals though, but I expected more creativity from Mata.

Herrera is more creative than Mata. His first touch is more likely to surprise and confuse the opposition defender, too.

I like Mata very much, but he isn't the assist machine some would have you believe. Herrera is much more likely to thread a ball through the defence and we seen as much last season.

Yup, revisionism is in full force. Match day threads were just as bad before Moyes and LVG, threads too.

That wasn't a cut at LVG. It was just pointing out that while that set up might not suit LVG it would suit other managers and that that level of playing talent would have been enough for us to win the league in the past.

You are right and when you look at other top managers, Mourinho played Zouma in Midfield, Wenger had the idea of playing Ramsey as a right AM, Ancelotti had the great idea of playing Di Maria, a winger, as a center midfielder. LVG isn't the only one.

Ancelotti played Ramos in midfield too I think. Managers playing players out of position shocker.

Dzeko more than repaid that fee (sadly).

If you're referring to one goal and unlimited happiness only seconds later than yes. Generally, in spite of the fact he's been a good player for City, he hasn't played like a £30 million striker either. He was a squad player, ultimately.

I forgot that one, Guardiola played Rafinha, Alaba and Xabi Alonso in central defense, it's fairly common when you think about it
