I'd be nervous to see us start the season with the same CB options, but hopefully with our new midfield options we won't be as vulnerable as last season to counter attacks. I think Rojo will be better this season (although I thought he had a decent first season in England) and maybe Blind will surprise us all. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time.

Thought something had happened when I seen 5 new pages. But no just people complaining about Young getting a new contract

the only problem with laporte is that we may have left it a bit late in the window to start dealing with A.bilbao, especially if they don't want to sell.

We all know how cnutish they can be over transfers, we may end up forking out otamedi type money.

Atletico won't sell Laporte. You pay the release clause or feck off is the attitude from them.

So it won't be for them to decide if we pay the release clause.

This would be suicidal, surely Ramos is not the only CB that could improve our defense when Blind and Jones are being used as actual viable starters.

It's madness man, it's one thing if you can simply have the pick of the litter then sure, go batshit with your preferences, but to actually take it to the point of playing Daley Blind as a CB in the PL is just lunacy.

We'd have missed out on one of the best CB partnerships ever, and in truth until LvG came I had never given a thought to which was the main foot of our CB's. Last season Barca won a treble with 2 right footed CB's and Chelsea won the PL, that is evidence enough that it's irrelevant micro managing.

"Ramos or no-one"?!

Faw kinnell - that's looking like LvG only wants to piss them off - by gettin a star player from them & not havin the foresight that we desparately need a top-class CB. I say we need 2 anyway.

Are we missing something with Blind though - is he really a top-class CB in the making?

What i'm being increasingly confident of though, is that Ed & United are putting their foot down & enforcing transfers & not leaving it to LvG as a whole.

For instance - we know that Shaw & Herrera were the clubs signings - not LvG's. He said it himself too.

Look at the signings we've made so far this summer too:

Romero - LvG's old boy keeper at AZ. LvG's signing.
Schweinsteiger - LvG's old boy at Bayern & short-term fix. LvG & United marquee-type signing. Addidas client also.
Memphis - LvG's golden nugget with the Dutch national team, but long-term fix. LvG & United common-sense enforced signing.
Schneiderlin - Prem quality proven & a common-sense signing. United enforced signing. LvG bought Blind as a holder last season for example.
Darmian - LvG wanted Alves as a short-term fix. Didnt happen. Clyne was available - thank f*ck that didnt happen. We bought Darmian for the now & the future. LvG & United common-sense enforced signing.

The way i see it, is that United have a long-term plan & not are not being fixated with LvG's 2 year plan for his legacy. That bodes well for us to sign the likes of Stones imo - because he's a future great & would walk into the team right now.

Problem is - it's the madness of King Louis wanting to have a left-footer always in the CB position now, that's a massive problem for us now. Not only that - he's got a hard-on for left-footers too ffs.

You're not a better footballer just because you're left-footed. You just look somewhat more unorthordox than the majority of right-footed players on a field of play; and with that - you are drawn to it - same as south-paws in boxing.

It doesnt make their decision-making or quality any more or less better than a right-footer or a left-hander. Not to mention - left-footers are predominantly & ridiculously one footed & only use their right for running & balance.

Top-class right-footers are comfortable with both feet - same cant be said with lefties..

According to COPE, Atleti may cancel Miranda's loan after the Italian club wishes to postpone one of the payments to November.

If this happens I'd get him. We could do with the experience he has.

Nah, he was quite bad last year. He needs a real leader like Godin beside him to perform.

Evans - plus quite a few quid, could be the deal maker though Desi. Whatya think man?

Plus, maybe Stones would prefer to stay in the north too. He probably wouldnt have to move house anytime soon either man. Liverpool aint that far away away from Carrington either, so he could commute quite easily - like many players & managers do with other teams..
Well, I'm obviously biased, but that is a good deal. With Everton playing hardball, I don't think they'd accept it though.

Exactly, that's what makes this season one to watch. After last seasons summer signings everyone thought 'we're back for sure' and with what happened in the season being a bit on/off, everyone now will be a little bit more skeptical on our chances.
I think the signings have been fantastic so far, albeit the need for a CB and a new striker. Think we've got Pedro in the bag as well

We know exactly how much we'd have to pay; it is fairly straightforward and we already have experience with the process.

Why we haven't started is beyond me. Must have been holding out for Ramos.

Bizarre that top clubs continue to take him.

Im baffled we have bought Boateng as well. Dont understand how we can afford it and why we need him. We are supposed to be a non smoker club.

How much was his clause ?

If it came down to 35 mil between laporte and otamedi, i'd pick the latter.

Thinking about it though, LVG confirming that he's liked what he has seen from blind and that he will play lcb is basically our new cb new signing.

Smalling and blind ? I mean it could work out if we didn't play such a high line.

Andy Mittens latest piece says Pedro will be United's last attacking signing.

Think Pedro is a great signing, but with di Maria gone just that one signing is nowhere near enough.

I thought the caf established that Andy Mitten basically knows nothing?

We should just play the youth and then get upset when LVG doesn't win a title.

I think De Gea being our player of the year for two years running tells as much about our defensive struggles as it does about his quality as a keeper.

Defending is not the sole responsibility of the defence, also the midfield has a role to play.
